Stephen Paul Dodd II1,2,3

M, b. February 3, 1978, d. September 5, 2013

Stephen Paul Dodd II was born on February 3, 1978.4,3 He died on September 5, 2013 at West Virginia at age 35.4,3 He Stephen Paul Dodd II, of Elkview, W.Va., was a shining light to the Dodd family and he will be dearly missed. He was born on February 3, 1978, and he left this earth to see Jesus on September 5, 2013, at the age of 35. First, Stephen would want us to give thanks to the many friends and family who visited, called, fed us, hugged us when we cried, listened when we were angry or sad, but most of all LOVED both us and Stephen. Stephen was charming and fun, with a personality which drew you in and made you love him. He always made time for his hobbies and was very competitive. He enjoyed working out with his many friends at the YMCA and Anytime Fitness, and hosting guests for WVU football games or attending them live. He loved playing softball with his cousins or competitively, meeting his dad for a movie and then sometimes taking his children to enjoy one by himself. Stephen also loved to fish and hunt and was teaching his children all about the sports. He was an environmentalist, outdoorsman and adventurer who loved to jet ski, camp out, rock climb, ride 4-wheelers, drive fast and listen to loud music, and go to the beach and amusement parks with friends and family. Stephen was also really smart and he loved to read about and debate the mysteries of the universe. To his parents' delight, he attended Lucy Wilson Baptist Church faithfully with his children. STEPHEN WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR HIS FRIENDS, AND HE COULD ALWAYS PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE! Stephen was a family man who loved his family dearly. He is survived by his three adoring children, Brynna MacKenzie Dodd, 13 years old, Sahra Nicole Dodd, 9 years old, and Stephen Slaton Dodd, 6 years old; and his expected daughter, Sophia Dodd due on February 4, 2014. He is also survived by his loving fiance, Brooke Harless; his devoted and loving parents, mother, Brenda Huffman Dodd and father, Stephen Paul Dodd; his adoring sisters, Stephanie Leah Dodd and Angela Kaye Harless; and his brothers-n-law, who were more like brothers, T.D. Dodd and Mark Harless. Stephen is also survived by his doting grandmother, Ernestine Humphreys Dodd, and a very close and loving network of extended family and friends too numerous to list. Loved ones waiting on him in heaven include his grandfather, William Paul Dodd; and his maternal grandparents, Ted and Maysel Huffman; along with and several others. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High 1996, and University of Charleston 2000. He played baseball for Hoover and the American Legion. He then went to college on a baseball and academic scholarship. He loved baseball and the last game he cheered for was Hoover winning the State championship this year. Stephen had a highly regarded career as an environmental scientist and worked for Summit Engineering, which he loved. His job consisted of many things including collecting bugs, water sampling, and work regarding mining permits. He would check streams for the fish, bugs, and the PH level for the quality and health of the stream. He would often take his children into the wild to teach them about his work. To honor Stephen's memory, and his love of WVU football, please wear your blue and gold to the visitation service, from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, September 9, at Hafer's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 4 p.m., Tuesday. His Uncle Rev. Clarence Deel and Pastor of Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Rev. Rodney Good will be officiating. A very special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, aides, and all involved in the care of Stephen for the last two months at CAMC General Hospital and Hospice Hubbard House. on September 8, 2013.3
