Quentin Gene "Tub" Speck was buried at Millers Chapel Cemetery, Jonesville, Lee Co., Virginia.3,2 He Quentin Gene (Tub) Speck, 78, of Morristown passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Systems. Mr. Speck retired from American Enka after 37 years and was an underage veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Eula Speck; brother, Sanford Speck; sisters, Virginia (Flipo) Garrett and Sue Dean. Survivors include his wife, Faye Speck; daughter, Linda (Mike) Plummer; grandchildren, B.J. (Kristy) Plummer of Union Star MO., and Afton Plummer of Morristown; great-grandson, Ethan Plummer of Union Star, MO; sisters, Irene Garrett of Morristown and Arline Hall of Jonesville, VA; brothers, Charles (Marie) Speck of Jonesville, VA., and Don (Mary) Speck of Kodak, TN; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the chapel of Mayes Family Services, Downtown, Morristown, TN with Pastor Dale Carey officiating and receiving of friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and visitation for family and friends will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. Daisy Ruth Fitts Daisy Carter of Lyman passed away July 31, 2016. She was the widow of J.V. Carter. Mrs. Carter was born in Jonesville, Virginia July 27, 1932, daughter of the late Charles Fitts and Ella Hines Fitts. She graduated from Jonesville High School and Lincoln Memorial University, also doing graduate work at Radford University, Wake Forest University, University of South Carolina and Clemson University. Mrs. Carter taught in Tennessee, Virginia, North and South Carolina, retiring from D.R. Hill after 32 years teaching. Mrs. Carter was a member of Lyman United Methodist Church where she served on many committees, organized the Senior Group in 1987, was coordinator for 27 years, and Chairman of Circle 5 for 20 plus years. She was a member of Lyman Town Council for 20 years, a charter member of Lyman Chapter Order of Eastern Star and a Jefferson Award Winner in 2008. She is survived by a niece, Gwen Harris of Jonesville, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Nora Fitts of Jonesville, Virginia; and other family, Joe and Sharon Cave, Betty Crumley, Patty Cox and Fay Speck all of Jonesville, Virginia, June Livesay of Ohio, Diane Faircloth of Tennessee and Audrey Thompson of North Carolina. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Joella Carter and brother, Bob Fitts. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Lyman United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Brian Gilmer. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Greer. Pallbearers will be Terry Blackwell, Ian Moore, Steve Ensley, Brad Shaver, Roger Pate and Richard Lester. Honorary escorts will be the Manley Jones Sunday School Class, Lyman United Methodist Church Senior Group, Circle 5 and Lyman Order of Eastern Star.4 She was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 815 E.
