He enjoyed mechanic work, especially spending time working on cars and TVs. He served his country in the Air Force during peacetime and received the Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Canaday. Canaday, all of Lincolnshire, England, and their mother, Marlene Canaday; Leighanna Froehlich and husband, Rick, and Rebekah Marie Canaday, both of Florida, Drew Kendall Canaday and Stephen Aaron Canaday, both of California, and their mother, Carolyn Canaday Guymon; Robert Dennis Canaday, Denise Renee Koenig and Lisa Bowhay, all of Kansas, and their mother, Janice Kleppe; and Linda Darlene Canaday of Illinois; four brothers, Clyde Canaday and wife, Wanita, of Summersville, Jerry Canaday and wife, Rosie, of Alabama, Howard Canaday and wife, Ruth, of Columbus, Ohio, and Bill Canaday of Beckley; two sisters, Margaret Jarrell and Carolyn Vass, both of Beckley; a devoted aunt, Daphine Cole; 17 grandchildren, Stuart James Furphy, Michael George Furphy, Steven Paul Furphy, Charlotte Victoria Furphy, Jason Fletcher, Matthew Thomas Hennell, Billy Joe Freeman, Toni Canaday, Terry Canaday, Justin Lee Jessogne, Christopher Michael Jessogne, Vanessa Francisca Balderas, Tanya Sue Balderas, Paige Canaday, Cassandra Leigh Buss, McCoy Darrell Buss and Dillon Michael Koenig; and a dear friend, Carlos Howerton.
