     Myrtle Arlee "Lucy" Richards Myrtle “Lucy” Arlee Richards Acord, 89, of Beckley, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 following a short illness. She was the daughter of the late William P. Richards and Mary Ashby Richards. Born December 22, 1926 in Sophia, WV. Lucy attended First Church of God in Lester. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, quilting, canning, shopping and being with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Acord; sons, Arnold and Rodney Acord; brother, Bud Richards; sisters, Nora Richards, Clara Wiley, Ethel Martin and Ceretha Tedder. Those left to cherish her memory includes her sons, Lawrence Richards and wife Beth of Beckley, Leonard Acord of Odd, Jeffrey Acord of Sandstone and John Acord of Beckley; daughters, Stella Asbury and husband Rodger of Beckley, Wilma Ward and husband Donald of Ghent and Penny Young of Beckley; brothers, Howard Richards of Charleston and Johnny Richards of Glen White; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends may gather with the family Monday, September 12, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 12-1pm. Funeral service will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 at 1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Birchfield officiating. Burial will follow at Shumate Family Cemetery in Maple Meadows with grandsons serving as pallbearers.¹ She was buried at Shumate Cemetery, Maple Meadow, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.¹ She was born on December 22, 1926 at Sophia, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,2 As of May 19, 1950,her married name was Acord.² She married Leonard Acord, son of Wiley Blackburn Acord and Stella Mae Toliver, on May 19, 1950 at Glen White, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^3,1,4,2 Myrtle Arlee "Lucy" Richards died on September 8, 2016 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 89.¹

     Arnold David Acord was buried at Acord Mountain Cemetery, Slab Fork, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.² He Arnold David Acord, 61 of Lester went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15, 2014. Born January 18, 1953, he was the son of Myrtle Richards Acord and the late Leonard Acord. Arnold loved playing and writing music. He also enjoyed working on cars and playing horseshoes. He attended the Lester Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Acord of Lester; daughters, Judy Halsey and husband, Brian, Rachel Malone and husband Patrick, Anna Simpson and husband, Scott; sons, David Acord, Matt Asbury, Pete Graham, Jordan Maraman; brothers, Lawrence Richards, Leonard Acord, Rodney Acord, Jeff Acord; sisters, Stella Asbury and Wilma Ward, and many grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia. Burial will follow at Acord Mt.      Rodney Lee Acord Rodney Lee Acord, 61, of Charleston/Glen White, passed away on August 5, 2016. Born, July 25, 1955, he was the son of Myrtle Richards and the late Leonard Acord. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia Cochran, and his brother, Arnold Acord. Rodney loved to travel. He enjoyed hitchhiking around the country, but finally settled in Charleston with his beloved wife, Sylvia. Those left to cherish Rodney’s memory include his mother, Myrtle Richards; son, John Acord of Beckley; brothers: Lawrence Richards and wife Beth Halsey of Beckley, Leonard Acord Jr. of Odd, Jeffrey Acord of Hinton; sister: Stella and husband Rodger Asbury of Beckley, Wilma and husband Donald Ward of Ghent, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.² He married Sylvia Cochran.² Rodney Lee Acord was born on April 25, 1955.² He died on August 5, 2016 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 61.²

     Ellen Constance Wheeler was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.³ She was born on December 12, 1924 at Glen White, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,3 As of December 13, 1941,her married name was Acord.¹ She married Earl Lucian Acord, son of Wiley Blackburn Acord and Stella Mae Toliver, on December 13, 1941 at Harper, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.^1,3 Ellen Constance Wheeler died on June 18, 2012 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 87.^4,3 She Our precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ellen Constance Acord, 87, of Chesterfield County, Va., went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 18, 2012, in Chesterfield County, Va. Born December 12, 1924, at Glen White, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Willa (Miller) Wheeler. She was a member of the Glen White Missionary Baptist Church of Glen White where she taught Sunday school for 26 years. She was a homemaker and a retired employee of the Raleigh County Board of Education. Husband, Earl Acord, and three sons, Earl, Rodger and Sam, daughter-in-law, Maria, son-in-law, Donald Rink, four brothers, Sam (Bob), William (Bill), Tommy and Donald, one grandson and one granddaughter preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Earlene Rink of Dallas, N.C., Vicki Cohran of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mary (Carlos) Garten of Beckley, Willa (Coy) Willis of Maysville, N.C., Charles (Debbie) Acord of Greenup, Ky., and Neta (Bill) Pressley of Leesburg, Ga., and sisters, Ineta Gray, June Romage, Gloria Fetchum, Ardeana Pittman, Beth Chastain, and Sandy Smith. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving, generous and inspiring woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Kenneth Parent officiating. Following the services she will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Pallbearers will be Charles Acord, Charley Acord, Stephen Robosky, Shaun Garten, Bill Pressley and Coy Willis. on June 22, 2012.³

     Sam Blackburn Acord was born on April 24, 1961.^3,2 He died on April 3, 2011 at age 49.^3,2 He PETERSBURG, Va. — Sam Blackburn Acord, 49, of Petersburg, formerly of Glen White, W.Va., passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2011. Born April 24, 1961, he was the son of the late Earl Acord and Ellen (Connie) Acord of Petersburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodger (Maria) Acord. Sam is survived by stepdaughter Ashley Young of Lewisburg, W.Va; brother, Charles (Debbie) Acord of Argillite, Ky., and five sisters, Earleen Rink of Lincolnton, N.C., Vickie Cohron of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mary (Carlos) Garten of Beckley, Willa (Coy) Willis of Maysville, N.C., and Neta (Bill) Pressley of Leesburg, Ga; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Sam was a carpenter/painter and mechanic by trade. He enjoyed fishing, working with leather, playing his guitar and doing paralegal work. A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Glen White Missionary Baptist Church, Glen White Rev. Kenneth Parent officiating. on April 8, 2011.²
