Whitacre, a retired farmer and sawmill operator, died at 7:15 o'clock this morning at Liberty, where he had been since Sept. 23. Mr. Whitacre resided in the Blue Mound community, 10 miles southeast of Chillicothe. Mr. Whittaker, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Whitacre, was born on July 25, 1877. On April 23, 1898 he married Armina Bell Anderson at Chillicothe. Mrs. Whittaker died on January 25, 1962. Survivors are two sons, William Whitacre, Hale, Arthur Whitacre, Redding, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. Grace Kitter, Pomona, Calif., and Mrs. Wilford Hall, Canon City, Colo. Mr. Whitacre was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister, and his wife. Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home, are incomplete and will be announced later. on November 12, 1964.3

Survivors are his wife, of the home; ten children, Zell Lee Whitacre, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Opal Haynes Chillocothe, Elsworth Whitacre, Hale, Mrs. Dorothy Forsythe, Hale, Vern Whitacre, Raytown, Mrs. Alta Culbertson, Hale, Byrdean Whitacre of the home, Mrs. Faymont Gray, Ottawa, Kan., Delbert Whitacre, Madison, and Mrs. Vera Bailey, Marshall; a brother, Thomas Whitacre. A sister and a half brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Austin Funeral Home. The Rev. Albert Janzen of Avalon will officiate. Burial will be in the Avalon cemetery. on November 5, 1958.4

Whitacre of the Blue Mound community, died at 6:12 o'clock Friday night. Mrs. Whitacre, who was 84, had been ill several years and seriously ill for two weeks. Mrs. Whitacre was born on Aug. 10, 1879 at Chillicothe, a daughter of Henry and Maria (Postalwaite) Anderson. She had spent her entire life in Livingston County with the exception of more than two years, 1942-1945, which was spent in California. She had resided in the Blue Mound community since 1918. On April 23, 1898, she was married to Tom C. Whitacre at Chillicothe. He survives of the home. Mrs. Whitacre was a member of the Liberty Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, William Whitacre, Hale, and Arthur Whitacre, Redding, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Kitter, Pomona, Calif; and Mrs. Wilford Hall, Canon City, Colo; a brother, Clyde Anderson, Des Moines, Ia. and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Frederick and Mrs. Josephine Frazier, Des Moines, Ia. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. John Gooding officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Mound cemetery. on January 26, 1963.3

(Swede) Whitacre, Chillicothe, Vernon, Kidder, and Delbert, Oadison, Mo., six sisters, Mrs. Opal Hayes and Mrs. Vera Bailey, Independence, Mrs. Dorothy Forsyth Mrs. Alta Culbertson, Hale, Miss Bernadeen Whitacre, Excelsior Springs, and Mrs. Faye Gray, Olanthe, Kan; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services for Mr. Whiteacre will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindley Funeral Home in Hale with Rev. Hilary Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside cemetery at Sumner. on February 11, 1974.4

Whitacre and operated a gas station in Chillicothe for several years before moving to Kansas City nine years ago. He also farmed. Mr. Hayes was a member of the Kansas City Baptist Temple. Survivors are his wife, Opal of the home at 1831 South Home, Independence; a daughter, Mrs. Delphia Bird, Independence; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services'will be held at 10 a .m. Thursday at Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City. Graveside services will be at 2:30 that afternoon at the Coloma cemetery at Coloma. on September 15, 1982.2

He was born Sept 3, 1923 in Hale MO, the son of Merlin and Lucy (Logan) Jacobs. On April 14, 1945 he married Bonnie J Whitacre in Chillicothe MO. Richard was a 1942 graduate of Hale High School Hale MO. He was a lifelong member of the Hale United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee for many years. Richard was also a member of the Hale Lions Club. He was the sexton of the Cameron Cemetery and a member of the Hurrican Township Board for 46 years. Richard was an avid Bridge player. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law; one daughter and son-in-law; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Reva Jackson and Corinne Rosenberger. Services will be held at the United Methodist Church Hale MO on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at 10:30 am. There will be a family visitation on Monday April 5, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm at Lindley Funeral Home Hale MO. Friends may call from 12 to 9 pm on Monday at Lindley Funeral Home Hale MO. Burial will be at Cameron Cemetery Hale MO. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Vera Bailey of the home; 2 daughters, Cheryl D. Cooper and husband Robert F. and Machelle Clark and her husband Gary E. all of Independence, MO; a brother, Clifton Bailey of Kansas City, KS; 3 sisters, Catherine Thomas of Lawrence, KS, Joanna Grandbouche of San Jose, CA and Mary Ellen Brown of Kansas City, MO; a granddaughter, Averi D.
