Ernie is survived by his mother, Peggy Atkins; two sisters, Sherry Sisson and husband, Tom, and Regina Crigger; as well as a nephew, Chris McGhee; and a niece, Chelsea Sisson. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Roger Graves officiating, followed by burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. on July 17, 2012.3

Mitchell National Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Mr. Shockey died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Signature Health Services in Graceville, Fla., after a brief illness. Born August 5, 1940 in Stuart, Va., Mr. Shockey was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Helen Marie Bohon Shockey. A 1958 graduate of Martinsville High School, Mr. Shockey also attended Fort Union Military Academy and Ferrum Junior College. He and Mrs. Shockey have lived in the Abbeville for approximately 29 years coming from Arizona. After serving in the military for so many years, when Mr. Shockey retired he wanted to be near the water to be able to fish and hunt. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and traveling to historic sites. He was even able to sight see and travel after being hired to drive an 18-wheeler. Having retired from the Air Force, Mr. Shockey was proud to be a veteran, he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of ACA (Air Commando Association), a member of DVA and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Doris Shockey, Abbeville; a daughter, Terri Shockey, Enterprise; stepdaughter, Candace (Cary) Southern, Tallahassee, Fla; three stepsons, Jeffery (Donna) Anderson, Tallahassee, Fla., Steven (Darlene) Anderson, DeFuniak Springs, FL., Kelvin (Ona) Anderson, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla; a sister, Carolyn Sue (Bill) Moore, Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren, Amanda McLain and Daniel Rhodes and numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. on March 30, 2015.1
