He farmed for 54 years near Millersburg. He moved to Williamsburg after retiring. He later moved to South English and lived the last four years of his life in Iowa City. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by three brothers, Fred, Virgil, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Charles, address unknown; four grandchildren, Patricia Foley of Cedar Rapids, David Tripses of Iowa City, Mary Ellen Hiller of Fairbanks, Ala., and Vernon Tripses of South English; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1978. His parents, one son, one brother and two sisters died earlier. on December 22, 1986.4
