He grew up in Franklin County living on a farm in Callaway with eleven other siblings and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his church. Mr. Willis was a wonderful person who worked hard all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bessie and three brothers, Perry Willis, Raymond Willis and Reuben Willis and four sisters, Susie Woods, Hellen Green, Hazel Montgomery and Lillian Wells. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Katie Estelle Guilliams Willis; and his adoring children, Michael Andrew Willis and Barbara (Bobbi) Jean Moran. He has four grandchildren, Troy Lee Argabright, Samantha Kristin Moran, Donna Rachelle Moran, and Heather Colleen Willis and one great-grandchild, Kelsey Jade Argabright. There are three surviving brothers, Walter Willis, Jr., Alfred Willis, and Pete Willis. Funeral services will be conducted from Furnace Creek Baptist Church 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on October 7, 2005.5

He was a loving husband and a loving father. Born January 16, 1927 in Calloway, Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter Lee Willis, Sr. and Bessie Webb Willis. He was the last surviving child of eleven children. He was married to Mary Frances Sigmon Willis who died August 27, 2005. Mr. Willis lived most of his life in Danville. He was employed 10 years with the City of Danville and 35 years with Thompson-Apex where he was construction supervisor. He was a member of Riveroak Church of God, was on the church building committee, Pastors Council, VIP's and taught Sunday School for several years. He started and finished many Foreign Mission churches. He is survived by a son, Thomas "Tommy" Willis and wife Betty of Danville; two daughters, JoAnn Walker and husband David of Massillon, Ohio and Pam Munford and husband Keith of Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tommy Willis and wife Lisa, Robin Lawrence and husband Chip, Todd Walker and wife Sandra, David Munford, Leah Slowiak and husband P. J. and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Peggy Moran of Danville. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by seven brothers, Pete, Posey, Reuben, Raymond, Alfred and Perry Willis and four sisters, Helen Green, Susie Woods, Hazel Montgomery and Lillian Wells. He was predeceased by one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m. from Riveroak Church of God with the Rev. Tim Nuckles, the Rev. Tim Hill and the Rev. Keith Munford officiating. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. on July 2, 2008.2
