Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2000 with the Rev. Bobby Pickle officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Roanoke County. on December 7, 2000.6

Maybelle Chocklett was buried at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, 7271 Cloverdale Road, Cloverdale, Botetourt Co., Virginia.1 She Maybelle (Chocklett) Wickham, 84, from Roanoke, passed away peacefully at her home in Brooksville, Florida on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Maybelle was born on March 27, 1940, the second of seven children to Jerry Robert Chocklett Sr. and Alien Chocklett. She grew up in Bent Mountain, where she met and eventually married the love of her life, George Wickham, on October 21, 1958. Maybelle was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker while George drove long-distance truck routes for more than 30 years. Additionally, Maybelle drove a bus for Roanoke County Public Schools and the North Cross School for many years. She was also an accomplished amateur bowler--earning induction into the Greater Roanoke USBC Hall of Fame in 1990 for Superior Performance. Maybelle loved to travel; she was especially fond of trips to Las Vegas and Carnival cruises. Maybelle will be remembered for her warm, outgoing personality, beautiful smile, and genuine love for everyone around her. She made fast friends and had the type of personality that people gravitated to all her life. As a result, she had deep, long-lasting relationships with many of her family and friends. She brightened every room and every community she ever lived in. We are grateful to have had her in our lives. Maybelle is survived by her husband of 66 years, George; daughters Deborah Wright (Anthony) and Vicki Minks; grandchildren Thomas Wickham, Kevin and Ashley Deane, Robert Wickham, Devin and Elise (Baldacci) Deane and many great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Marie Weddle, Butch Chocklett and special friend, Dotty Martin, Ruby and Larry Boone, Patsy and Mike Turner and Diane Chocklett; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the HPH Hospice Team for their exceptional care and a special thank you to Maybelle’s sister-in-law, Sue Huffman, and a very special friend, Amanda Smallwood, for helping Vicki care for Maybelle in her final weeks. Funeral Services will be conducted at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. She was born on March 27, 1940 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2 As of October 21, 1958,her married name was Wickham.1 She married George Wayne Wickham, son of Perry Everett Wickham and Edith Adelia Wimmer, on October 21, 1958.1 Maybelle Chocklett died on January 2, 2025 at Brooksville, Hernando Co., Florida, at age 84.1
