Matilda Ann Evans Ann Evans Hunt, 74, of Frederick, MD died peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2006 in Frederick, Maryland. She was born October 30, 1931 to Charles Evans and Mildred Hutchinson Evans in Morgantown, WV. She graduated from Morgantown High School and then attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, where she graduated with a degree in Recreation. In 1954, she married John Louis Hunt, of Burton, West Virginia. Over the years they lived in California, Maryland, and lived in the Grafton, West Virginia area for twenty years. Ann was involved in many community activities. She was a member of the Frederick County Homemakers and the Walkersville Parks and Recreation Commission, where she was instrumental in the creation of the Walkersville City Park. She was also one of the contributors to the published history of the Walkersville Community. Ann was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a long time member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Grafton. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Evans, a brother, Charles Evans, Jr., and her husband, John L. Hunt, who passed away in 2001. Surviving are two sons, Charles Garrett Hunt of Keymar, Maryland, and John Matthew Hunt, of Billings, Montana. Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home in Hundred, WV from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM with the Pastor Bert Coffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery at Burton, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Route 4, Box 284, Grafton, WV 26354. She traveled extensively in Europe and drove 14,000 miles across the United States this spring. Born in Asheville, N.C., she lived in Union City and in Lakehurst before moving to Rowley. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick I. Blake. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Laurie Blake of Hasbrouck Heights; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn Blake of Annandale, Barbara and Arthur Goodridge of Malden, Mass., and Patricia and Ron Stimers of Rowley, Mass; six grandchildren, Kimberlee Greenawalt, Ryan Stimers, Lael Stimers, Anand Goodridge, Tyler Blake and Conner Blake; and three nieces, Carol Klein, Gayle Roorda and Nancy Calhoun. on October 20, 1999.5
