The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pilot Rock with interment to follow at Skyview Memorial Park, Highway 395, south of Pendleton. A viewing will be held between 2-3 p.m. Friday at the church. The youngest of five children, Mrs. Mentzer was born June 5, 1925, at Castlegate, Utah, to Leonard W. and Ruth Zobell Rice. She attended schools in Castlegate and Murray, Utah. On Sept. 13, 1948, she married Leonard W. Mentzer in Baker. They had just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. The couple had lived in Pilot Rock all of their married life. Mrs. Mentzer was always actively involved in her children's school activities, coaching Little League and serving as a Boy Scout leader. She could be found providing cookies and her wonderful cinnamon rolls for her children's activities. She also spent many hours sewing for her children. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For several years she donated many hours working for Smith Foods in Pendleton for her church. She was employed as a nurses' aide at St. Anthony Hospital, Community Hospital and the State Hospital in Pendleton for many years. Survivors include her husband, Leonard W. Mentzer of Pilot Rock; sons, David Mentzer in Montana, Doug Mentzer and wife, Robin, of Shreveport, La., and Daryl Mentzer and wife, Lisa, of Battleground, Wash; daughters, Darcia Porter and husband, Kent, of Pilot Rock, Donna Christensen of Pilot Rock, and Sharlyn Rice of Murray, Utah; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard W. and Ruth Zobell Rice; brothers, Walt, LaMar, and Stan; sister, Burnice; son, Max Wohlford; and son-in-law, Lennis Christensen. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. on September 21, 2005.²

Disposition was by cremation. Mr. Wohlford was born July 14, 1946, at Pendleton, and graduated from high school at Pilot Rock in 1965. Mr. Wohlford loved the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and was always happy going with family and friends to the mountains, lakes and rivers. He also enjoyed barbecues and karaoke at family gatherings. Survivors include his mother, Betty Mentzer of Pilot Rock; sons, Vance of Reno, Sean Malcom of Stanfield, Casey and Marvin, both of Hermiston; three grandsons, several cousins and friends. on September 27, 2003.⁶
