He was a retired Foreman at Siemen's Electric, WWII U.S. Army veteran; and a member of the Eagles Lodge, Union County Humane Society and the American Legion. The son of the late Harry and Hazel M. Mercer Reese, born June 1, 1923 in Springfield. Jan. 17, 1957, in Michigan, he married Betty Faye Stull, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bill Lucas of Prospect, Ronald Reese of Texas; two daughters, Benita Taylor of Marion, and Susie Crofut of Richwood; 8 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Duke (Anna) Ridgeway and Mrs. Archie (Evelyn) Cox, both of Ridgewood. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ballinger-Pepparrt Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Hillman and the Rev.      Hershel Elbert Lucas Herschel Albert (should be Elbert) Lucas, 32, died at his home near Summersville at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was a member of Summersville Friends Church. Born February 24, 1923 in Hardin County, he was a son of Cecil Lucas and Lillian (Baughman) Lucas. In October, 1944 he was married to Betty Faye Stull. He entered the service in 1945 and was a member of the 15th Paratroopers Division in Japan. Surviving is the wife and two children, Bonita Sue and William Cecil, also a brother and two sisters, Robert Lucas, Mrs. Carl Potts and Miss Mary Lucas, all of Richwood. Two brothers are deceased. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. In the Friends Church at Summersville, conducted by Rev. Evangeline Smith. She was born Aug. 21, 1920, in New Boston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clark and Grace McCoy Walker. She was the wife of the late Theodore Stull, who died in January, 2006. She was a homemaker and was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a renowned artist of this area and the founding member of the Ashland Creative Arts Club. She was the winner of the Appalachian artist of the year through Ashland Community College. Survivors include one son, Ottis Stull of Russell; one daughter, Esther Mondaine (David) Hager of Russell; one sister, June O’Conner of Flatwoods; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at noon Monday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland with Chaplain Johnny Riley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.1 Her married name was Stull.1 She married Theodore "Ted" Stull, son of William Harmon "Pete" Stull and Etta "Ellie" "Eddie" Allen.1 Bernice E.
