She was greeted by those family and friends who had preceded her, husband Alvin Pittman; her sisters, Sally Hanson, Nora Hayes, Margaret Murphy; her brothers, Daniel Day and Robert Day; and stepfather, William Spence. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son Alvin Ray Pittman and wife Shirley; grandsons and wives, Jason and Bandy Pittman and Scott and Connie Harman of Edgewater, FL; her daughter, Phyllis Pittman of Glen View, WV, and stepgrandchildren Lee, Dwayne, Judy, and Myra Jo Ward; her daughter and son-in-law Susie and Jim Brock of MacArthur, WV, grandson and his wife Jeremy and Karel Stover of Sevierville, TN; her four great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Jalynn Stover and Lola and Levi Pittman; her two sisters, Ruth Gall of Sun City, AZ, Ocie Gross of Richmond, VA; numerous extended family and friends. Mrs. Pittman has faithfully served Glen View Independent Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was honored to be considered the "grandmother" of many young people in her community and church. She always had plenty of love to share. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Duane Pease and Pastor Charles Acord officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaday Cemetery at Glen View. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Monday. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Canaday, Steven Lively, David Martin, Jeremy Stover, Jason Pittman and Butch Acord. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen View Independent Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1101, Crab Orchard, WV 25827. on March 13, 2011.2

He retired from West Moreland Coal Company after 39 years of loyal service as an electrician and was a 62 year year member of the U.M.W.A. He was an avid outdoorsman; he passed his love of deer hunting down through three generationswith trips to Hardy Country. His most loved fishing spot was Rogersville, TN, and he is leaving behind many friends from his years at the campground. Ray Tate and Sam Bragg were two young men special to him. Ray did lawn care and upkeep on his home in Glen White and Sam Bragg was his care giver these last nine months of his failing life. In addition to his parents he was preceded n death by his wife of 56 years,Geneva Hopkins Pittman, brothers; Alfred Pittman and Roger Wayne Pittman. infant son Albert Wayne Pittman, and his special great granddaughter Amber Massey. Those left to cherish his memory include his children David Pittman and wife Sandra of Sophia, Richard Pittman and wife Vivkie of Crab Orchard; daughter Ramona Cummings and husband Steven of Mabscott; brother Charlie Pittman and wife Lois of Sophia, sisters Joyce Hopkins of Beckley, Violet Snyder of Selbyville, DE, Rena Perkins of Beckley, Fay Lynch and husband Bob of Greenville, NC carol Sue Richardson of Rockford IL and Beverly Wolf and husband Frank of Zanesfield, OH; 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren. on October 4, 2011.4
