He died in a local hospital at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. He was admitted to the hospital Oct. 5 after a beating he allegedly suffered at his home. He was born April 8, 1905 in Crab Orchard, the son of the late Hugh and Dora Terry Clyburn. He was a resident of Raleigh County all his life and was a retired coal miner. He was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Cora Lee McCann, Mount Hope and Mrs. Betty Mae Ballard and Elizabeth Ann Clyburn both of Mabscott; two brothers, Earl, Kansas City, Mo., and Charlie, Mabscott; one sister, Mrs. Laura Porto, Newark, N. J; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Naoma Underwood, preceded him in death, Feb. 22, 1967. Friends may call at the Melton Mortuary from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m and 7 p.m. 1O p.m. Tuesday. on October 25, 1971.5

W. M. Flemmin officiating. Mrs. Clyburn died near Layland Friday suddenly of a heart attack. She was born in Saltville on Aug. 23, 1915, the daughter of Simon P. and Gracie Arnett Burke of Eccles, who survive her. She was married to Homer William Clyburn in 1929. She is also survived by the following: three daughters, Naoma, Cora, and Betty, all at home; one sister, Mrs. Effie V. Kinsley of Abington, Va; two brothers, G. A. Burke and John Burke, both of Eccles. on August 27, 1950.3
