"Jay" Northington, 74, passed away July 1, 2010 at his home in Yukon, Okla. He was born in Hollis, Okla. on June 17, 1936, to J.T. and Elizabeth Coy (Cole) Northington. Jay was retired from the United States Army, having served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. After his 20 years of military service, he moved to Blythe to be near his family. During that time he was employed by Robinson Farms and Schindler Brothers. In 1979, he moved his family to Yukon, Okla. To work in the oilfields and resided there since that time. To his beloved grandchildren, Papaw was the "Hero" who mended fences and broken hearts, the Short Order Cook who knew just what you wanted, the dependable taxi who also didn't mind bringing your forgotten lunch or money. He was the best fisherman and mentor there ever was. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Jay is survived by his wife, Sheryl Northington of the home; sons Alan Northington of Redding, Calif. and Mark Northington and wife Cindi of Oklahoma, City; daughters, Joni Seymour and husband Johnny of Yukon, Okla. and Lisa Birch and husband Rob of Phoenix, Ariz; brother, Troy Keith Northington and wife Beverly of Squim, Wash; sister, Mira Poulter and husband Shilo of Lexington, S.C; grandchildren, Amy Barreras and husband Albert of Yukon; Charlie Jean Pope, Andrea and Kaylee Stroschein of Blythe, Bryan and Jason Stroschein, Natalie and Nicole Northington of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Daniel Ray and Victoria Barreras of Yukon, Taylor Engeman of Phoenix and Abbie and Kiley Moore. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. Viewing for Jay was held from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m., July 6 and July 7, 2010. Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 8, 2010 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, intellectual strength and family loyalty. on March 4, 2018.2
