He was the husband of the late Caroline Jane Menditto Shearer and the late Margaret Marie Underwood Myers Shearer. Born February 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stanford Roland Shearer, Sr. and Lillian Nace. Stanford was active with the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, he would volunteer at least one Sunday a month at Smith Mountain Lake Runk & Pratt and he was an active member of Hales Ford Baptist Church. Stanford is survived by his son, Stanford Roland Shearer, III; daughters, Sharon and Leta: step-sons, Charles Rodney Myers and wife, Judith, David Myers and wife, Kim; step-daughter, Elaine Gansauer and husband, John and eight grandchildren. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Calvary Anglican Church, 3044 S. San Pablo Road, Jacksonville. There was a reception following.
