Barbara Spangler officiating. Burial will be in the Alma Cemetery with military honors at the graveside provided by the Veteran organizations of Harlan County. Mr. Davis was born February 27, 1924 at Alma where he grew up and attended school graduating with the Class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific. He then attended the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a BS degree in Agriculture. He married Mary Ruth Best who preceded him in death in 1973. They resided in Nebraska where he was employed as a Soil Conservationist with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service until 1969 when he moved to Maine. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Sue Rothman July 1, 1975, in Maine. In 1975, they moved to Illinois where he retired from the S.C.S. in 1979. They moved to Minnesota in 1981. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; father, Arnold; and one brother, Arnold. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie and 10 year-old son, Christopher, at home in Stillwater, Minn; his mother, Mrs. Nina Davis, Alma; two sons, John Davis and wife Lorna, of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin., and Darrell Davis and wife, Julie, Peoria, Ill; two daughters, Martha Coffey and husband, Terry, Ames, Iowa and Teresa Chick and husband, Steve, Littleton, Colo; one brother, Jack Davis and wife, Florence, Bertrand (wintering in Arizona); one sister, Mrs. DuReece Gehring and husband, William, Indianola, Nebr; and eight grandchildren. There will be private viewing for family at the Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Alma from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Alma is is charge of arrangements.3 He was born on February 27, 1924 at Alma, Harlan Co., Nebraska.3,4,6,5 He married Mary Ruth Vest, daughter of Omer Oris Vest and Mattie M.
