Duane graduated from Wilkes Central High School. He served in the United States Army in Germany and Vietnam. He was a kind, caring person and loyal to his friends. He was a good mechanic and handyman. He will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Nancy J. Allen. He is survived by: sisters, Sharon Noyes and husband, David and Hope Allen all of Hickory; Denise Collins and husband, Ronald of Siler City; brother, Thomas Allen of Ferguson and special friend, Debbie Laws. A private graveside service will be conducted with full military honors accorded by VFW Honor Guard Post 1142.1 He was buried at Allen / Johnson / Foster Cemetery, Elkville, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.2 He was born on February 13, 1948 at Lenoir, Caldwell Co., North Carolina.1,2 He died on March 1, 2016 at North Carolina at age 68.1,2

Born May 26, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Ottie W. and Jane M. Allen of Ferguson, NC. She is survived by three sisters, Sharon Noyes and husband David of Hickory, Hope Allen of Hickory, Denise Collins and husband Ronnie of Siler City; two brothers, Duane and Tommy Allen of Ferguson; nephews, David A., Daniel and wife Carla, Samuel and wife Suzanne, John Noyes, Matthew Collins, Jacob Collins and wife Rosanna; two grand nieces, Emerson and Genevieve; maternal aunt, Jessie M. Allen and numerous cousins. From her youth, Nancy wanted to be a teacher. She graduated in 1972 from Lenoir Rhyne College. She was dedicated to the Lord and served him for 40 years as a teacher in three Christian schools in Bristol, TN, Asheville, NC and the last 28 years at Tabernacle Christian School in Hickory. She was an active and faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Although, she never married, nor had children, she nurtured her nephews and students with love and guidance, laughter and encouragement. She was active in her church and school by keeping the TCS scoreboard and clock for their games. She was a Sunday school teacher and was always willing to serve wherever needed in her church and school. She was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan and an Avon Saleslady. She was devoted to her family and guardian to her sister Hope. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. The funeral will be 3:00pm Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Hooks officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at Allen Family Cemetery.2 She was born on May 26, 1950 at Lenoir, Caldwell Co., North Carolina.2,3 She died on December 6, 2015 at Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., North Carolina, at age 65.3,2

Kiter Virginia Marley HICKORY – Kiter V. Marley went home to be with her Lord on March 12, 2010 surrounded by loved ones. She was born November 7, 1930 in Wilkes County to the late John C. and Lilly Hamby Marley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, George W. Marley, Jones E. Marley, Lester Marley, Marshall Marley, Junior Marley and Charlie Marley; sister, Jane M. Allen and nephew, Michael Marley, Sr. She is survived by sister, Jessie M. Allen of Hickory; 12 nieces, 8 nephews, several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great great-great nieces and nephews. Kiter retired from Century Chair after 25 plus years of service. She had no children of her own but was a mother and grandmother figure to many of her nieces and nephews. She loved animals and flowers. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She was a good cook and loved baking cakes for many occasions. She was kind, tender hearted, and generous but spoke her mind without censure when she thought the occasion called for it. She loved the Lord and was ready to meet Jesus. Her fingerprints are on many lives. She will live on in the hearts of many. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 15th at Catawba Funerals & Cremations at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Hooks and Rev. David Noyes officiating. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Bumgarner; four sisters; Bertha Holman, Allie Eller, Elsie Brookshire, and Justine Hollender; and six brothers, Lawrence, Blaine, Ace, Delbert, Junior and Earl Wolfe.
