Evelyn Crowder ST. PAUL, VIRGINIA - Evelyn Crowder, 88, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late Charles and Rebecca Byers Crowder. She was preceded in death by four sisters, her twin sister, Thelma Lee Crowder, Mae Harris, Alice Snodgrass, and Ruth Rizza; and one brother, Edgar E. Crowder. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Paul, Virginia. She worked for 30 years in the Clinchfield Pharmacy at Dante. She helped contribute information for the book Memories From Dante. She is survived by three nieces, Doris Fletcher and husband, Kyle of St. Paul, Virginia, Barbara Pace of Juno Beach, Florida, and Gloria Armentrout of Staunton, Virginia; four nephews, Carson Beverly Hamilton and wife, Sandy of Roanoke, Virginia, Gary Crowder and wife, Judy of Lebanon, Virginia, James "Chub" Crowder and wife, Benny of St. Paul, Virginia, and Joe Rizza and wife, Lisa of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Helen Crowder of St. Paul, Virginia; several great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Evelyn Crowder will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Mike Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Steve Austin, Jerry Barnette, Harry Kelly, Stephen Hamilton, Kyle Fletcher, Chub Crowder, and Ken Ball. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. The family wants to give a special thanks to Maple Grove Health Care in Lebanon and her caregivers, Amanda and Margaret. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 546, St. Paul, Virginia 24283.1 She was buried at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Russell Co., Virginia.1 She was born on February 28, 1924 at Dante, Russell Co., Virginia.1,2 She died on September 27, 2012 at Kingsport, Sullivan Co., Tennessee, at age 88.1
