She was born in Dante, daughter of the late Edward and Mattie Couch. She was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of Dante. She was a loving wife, mother and good friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harding Morefield. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Rasnick and husband G.C. of Dante and Pamela York and husband James of St. Paul, Va; three sons, Mike Morefield and wife Teri of Johnson City, Larry "Tub" Morefield and wife Diana of Dante and Jeff Morefield and wife Amy of Nickelsville; six sisters, Katherine Proffitt of Dante, Arletta Lambert of Raven, Margaret Thomas of Erwin, Tenn., Deloris Coleman of Gray, Tenn., Patricia Ketron of Kingsport and Regina Harrison of Bristol Virginia; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mable Couch Morefield will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with the Rev. Leonard Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be Brad Morefield, Scott Morefield, Hugh Morefield, Steve Morefield, Kenneth Gullett and Tony Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be William Edward Couch, Terry Stone and Daniel Glass. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Norton, P.O. Box 349, Norton, VA 24273; Dante Rescue Squad, Dante, VA 24237; or flowers will be accepted. on April 5, 2006.2

He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Crowder; sister: Barbara Pace; and daughter, Holly McReynolds Smith. Survivors include his wife, Judy Crowder and their children and spouses, Jennifer Clancy and husband, Sean, Rebecca Braddock and Clark Crowder; grandchildren, Elizabeth Crowder, Rachel Braddock, and Tylor Orr; siblings, Doris Fletcher and James (Chub) Crowder; and his mother, Helen Crowder. His life was also graced with special friends who provided him friendship and support. A special thank you to Wellmont Hospice for their care and support. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. prior to the service, Tuesday, September 19, 2017, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. with the Rev Don Bush officiating. Entombment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Those attending are requested to meet at the Mausoleum at the time of service. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Danny Clark, Greg Clark, Rodger Owens, Donnie Ramey, Steve Austin, Calvin Grizzle, and Jim Dotson. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Baker, Beaver Stoots, Scott Owens, Dallas Hubbard, Jerry Barnette, David Osborne, and all his many golf friends over the years. on September 19, 2017.1
