     Michael "Mike" Frederick Schmieder Michael "Mike" Frederick Schmieder, 71, of Battle Creek, died July 14, 2015. He was born May 17, 1944, the son of Earl F. and Bettie J. (Wishnewitz) Schmieder in Toledo, Ohio. Mike served in the U. S. Army and attended the University of Toledo. He worked for American Motors in Toledo for 28 years, retiring in 1990 as a Division Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 158 of Garrett, Indiana, Vietnam Veterans of America, Etz Chayim Synagogue of Toledo, Ohio and the NRA. He loved his family and was a great father, brother, and uncle. Mike is survived by his son, Scott Schmieder of Houston, Texas; daughter, Rachelle (Mark) Paquette of Lexington, South Carolina; former wife, Carol A. (Steingroot) Schmieder; brothers, Arthur (Fave) Schmieder of Richmond, Kentucky, Gerald (Eldora) Schmieder of Sylvania, Ohio; sister, Dorothy (Frank) House of Ottawa Lake, Michigan; half-brother, David Ashbold of Battle Creek and special friend, Randall Green of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents. Committal service with full military honors will take place 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
