Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 6, 1914, at Roderfield, W.Va., to the late Lewis K. and Alberta Neeley Dickinson. She graduated from Welch High School, Hiwasee College in Tennessee and Concord College in Athens. Mrs. Clark was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for 42 years in Newport News, Va., McDowell and Raleigh Counties. She was a member of the Surveyor United Methodist Church and also attended church at the Stover Church of Christ. She was a member of the Retired Teachers' Association and enjoyed her association with seniors at the Shepherd Center. Many family members and friends are recipients of her embroidered, crocheted or hand-sewn items. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Willard Clark; two infant sons; and brothers, William, Walter, John and Kell. Survivors include her daughter, Sue Clark Remaley and husband, Paul, of Twin Falls, Idaho, and her son, Robert William Clark of Surveyor. Grandchildren include Dr. Sherawn Remaley Reberry and husband, Brian, of Boise, Idaho; Dr. Trey Remaley and wife, Angela, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and SST Derek Remaley, United States Army, Boise. Great-grandchildren are: Kelsy Rian Merritt, Boise, Tylah Alexandra and Madison Marie Remaley, Perrysburg. A loving sister, Arlene Germain and husband, Edward, and families reside in Newport News, Va. A special niece, Patricia Wriston and husband, Wayne, and family live in Oak Hill. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Center for the kind and compassionate attention given to Lillian during her stay there. Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Mausoleum Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Dewey Lowe from the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church in Bolt conducting the service. on August 14, 2008.2

He was a member of Noland Memorial United Methodist Church and served as past master of Peninsula Masonic Lodge No. 278 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Dickinson was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a program manager of Department 034 Advanced Technology at Newport News Shipbuilding in 1984 after 45 years service. Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Dickinson; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Dickinson Barker of Newport News; two sisters, Lillian Clark of Glenn Daniel, W.Va., and Arline Gormain of Newport News; three brothers, William S. Dickinson of Charlotte, N.C., John F. Dickinson of Moneta and Lewis Keller Dickinson Jr. of Hampton; and one grandchild. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Noland Memorial United Methodist Church by the Revs. Billy Gene Johnson and P.S. Boyer. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Peninsula Funeral Home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Noland Memorial United Methodist Church. on June 24, 1989.2

A veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater as part of the 1st Calvary Division of the U. S. Army, he retired from U. S. Steel Mining Co., Gary, W.Va. as Chief Mine Inspector in 1985. He was a member of Hales Ford Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and taught Awanas. He also volunteered at the Dudley and Burnt Chimney Elementary Schools for several years. Preceding Mr. Dickinson in death were his parents, Lewis and Bertie ONeal Dickinson, Newport News, Va. (Filbert, W.Va., brothers William "Bill" Dickinson, Charlotte, N.C., Walter Dickinson, Newport News, Va. and Kell Dickinson, Hampton, Va., granddaughter Amanda Bucciarelli, Gary, WV and great-granddaughter Josephine Renee Dickinson, Pittsburgh, Penn. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Patty Jean Dickinson; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Bucciarelli and husband Giovani (John), Hoover, Ala; son and daughter-in-law, John Franklin Dickinson, II and wife Jean Ellen, Bonita Springs, Fla; granddaughter, Sarai Bucciarelli, Birmingham, Ala; grandson, John Franklin Dickinson, III and wife Renee, Pittsburgh, Penn; great-grandson John F. Dickinson, IV; sisters Arline Germain, Newport News, Va., Lillian Clark, Beckley, W. Va; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Lynch Funeral Home Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W. Va. at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday, January 8, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Johns name to the Hales Ford Baptist Church Awanas, 2485 Lost Mountain Rd., Wirtz, Va. 24184. A native of Roderfield, W.Va., he had been a Peninsula resident since 1968. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having retired as a master sergeant in 1968, after 20 years of service. Mr. Dickinson was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in April 1970. He served as an elder and secretary of the Coliseum congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Dickinson; one daughter, Cynthia Miller, and her husband, Gerald, of Woods Cross Roads; one son, Roger Dickinson, and his wife, Maria, of Hayes; four grandchildren, Ryan Dickinson, Tina Dickinson, Andrew Miller and Laurel Miller; two sisters, Lillian Clark of Beckley, W.Va., and Arlene Germain of Newport News; and one brother, John Dickinson of Moneta. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lewis K. Dickinson Sr. and Alberta O'Neil Dickinson, and two brothers, Walter Dickinson and William Dickinson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the chapel of W.J. Smith and Son Funeral Home, with James Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Mr. Dickinson's wife and family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton for the care that they provided Mr. Dickinson over the years. They would like to say a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the intensive-care unit for the extraordinary love and kindness that they displayed toward Mr. Dickinson and his family during his recent illness.
