Survivors include her husband, Robert Martin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Nettie Martin of Atlanta, Ga., Thomas L. and Judy Martin of Rocky Mount; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon M. and Billy Chitwood of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren, Selena M. White, Robert L. Martin Jr., Cheryl R. Martin, Lori M. Caldwell and husband, Travis, Candace R. Martin, Brian A. Chitwood and wife Laurie and Brooke M. Aheron and husband Donald; two great-granddaughters, Cassaday R. Martin and Ashlee M. Aheron; four sisters, Lorene Whittaker of Pembroke, Elizabeth Taylor of Nevada, Betty Marrs of Herndon and Frances Thornhill of Pembroke; and one brother, Carson Martin of Snowsville. on August 2, 1995.6

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert F., Jr. and Madeline M. Martin. Survivors include his daughters, Lori Denise Caldwell and Candace Renee Martin, all of Boones Mill; his granddaughter, Kristen Paige Caldwell; his former wife and Angel of Mercy, Judy W. Martin, Rocky Mount; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Nettie M. Martin, Live Oak, Fla; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon M. and Billie L. Chitwood, Glade Hill; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military honors. on January 12, 2005.2

She was a lifetime member of Christian Fellowship Church: Laurie is survived by her husband, Brian Chitwood; son, Taylor Chitwood and Layura Henley; daughter, Emily Chitwood; mother, Bonnie David Pickeral; brother, Jeremy Pickeral; mother and father-in-law, Billie and Sharon Chitwood; sister and brother-in-law, Brooke and Donald Aheron; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; her beloved cat "Pokey" and her eight closest friends, Lisa, Daryle, Michelle, Shannon, Tanya, Kira, Nina and Renee. Interment followed at David Family Cemetery. on December 4, 2019.2
