     Melvin Monroe Vance was born on June 29, 1938 at Richlands, Tazewell Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 He married Shelby Louise Martin, daughter of Harry Lee Martin and Mary Ellen Kast, on May 28, 1960 at Tazewell, Tazewell Co., Virginia.¹ Melvin Monroe Vance and Shelby Louise Martin were divorced on January 19, 1971 at Giles Co., Virginia.² Melvin Monroe Vance died on September 12, 2018 at Virginia at age 80.³ He Melvin Monroe Vance, 80, of Salem, Va., went over the bridge to his forever home, a bridge that he did not have to build, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Mr. Vance was born June 29, 1938, in Doran, Va. a son of the late George Washington Vance and Nanny Myrtle Elswick Vance. He served his country in the United States Army and worked as a crane operator building bridges. He was a super, amazing human who was kind to everyone and loved his two girls most of all. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters. Surviving are his daughters, Mary (Edi) Gusler and husband, James, and Barbara (Bobbi) Neighbors and husband, Frankie; grandchildren, James Melvin Vance Gusler, Christian Gusler, Shannon and Casey, Amanda Gasper, and Logan Neighbors; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Alley. The first memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Beacon Baptist Church with Pastor Don Woodard officiating. An additional memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Emmaus Road Community Church with Pastor Barry Fitzgerald officiating. on September 14, 2018.³

     Edna Frances Dennis was buried at Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.² Her Social Security Number was 228-16-2435.³ She was born on July 1, 1909 at Thessalia, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,3,2 As of January 20, 1940,her married name was Martin.¹ She married Jerry Letcher Martin, son of Arthur Lee Martin and Mary Virginia Hutchinson, on January 20, 1940 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,2 Edna Frances Dennis died on July 30, 2000 at Rich Creek, Giles Co., Virginia, at age 91.^3,4,2 She MARTIN, Edna Frances Dennis, 91, of Pearisburg, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2000 at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Mrs. Martin was born on July 1, 1909 in Thessalia and was a daughter of the late Edwin Dills Dennis and Annie Minnick Dennis. Mrs. Martin was a lifetime resident of Giles County and was a member of Providence Methodist Church. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Martin and a son, Paul Rivers Martin. Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry Dennis and Johnnie Martin, of Fayetteville, N.C., Walter Raymond and Joanne Martin, of Pearisburg, Edwin Lee and Carolyn Martin, of Pearisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Edna M. and Tom O'Brien, of Pearisburg; one brother, Paul Darr Dennis, of Pearisburg; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Franco and the Rev. E.H. Shaver officiating with burial to follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence Methodist Church in Pearisburg or to a charity of your choice. on July 31, 2000.²

Cotton was born on November 14, 1945, and was a son of the late Jerry Letcher Martin and Edna Dennis Martin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul R. Martin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was employed by the Moog Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn B. (Tiny) Martin of Pearisburg; one son, Edwin L. Martin, Jr. of Pearisburg; one daughter, Shelly M. Johnson of Pembroke; one sister, Edna M. O'Brien of Pearisburg; two brothers, Jerry D. Martin of Pearisburg and Walter Martin of Pearisburg; two grandchildren, Skyler Martin and Haley Johnson. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, October 23, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Birch-lawn Burial Park with the Rev. Rick Franco officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence United Methodist Church, Pearisburg, Virginia. on October 22, 2003.²
