Iris B. Stevenson, 73, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zacharia and Helen Bocock, and brothers, Robert Bocock and David Bocock. Iris is survived by her brother, Michael Bocock; several nieces and nephews; and her fur baby, Rags. She graduated from William Fleming High School and worked at Freedom First for almost 10 years and was also a manager at Hallmark at Towers for a number of years. Graveside Services will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Matt Reynolds officiating. on February 26, 2003.⁴ She died on February 22, 2023 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 73.⁴

     David Allen Bocock Sr. was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. W., Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ He was born on February 5, 1942 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,3,4 He married Garlene Marie Moser on July 2, 1962 at Roanoke, Virginia.^2,4 David Allen Bocock Sr. died on June 10, 2021 at Virginia at age 79.⁴ He David Allen Bocock Sr., 79, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 10, 2021. He was born on February 5, 1942. David was the second son to Zachariah and Helen Bocock. He had an older brother, Bobby, a younger sister, Iris, and a younger brother, Michael. David and Bobby were soon known as the meanest boys in their Northwest Roanoke neighborhood. If anything happened, they just knew those "Bocock boys" had something to do with it. Illness plagued David as a child, during the Polio epidemic of the 1950s. David contracted the disease and was bedridden for almost a year. After fully recovering from Polio at age 12, David was hit by a car and there was fear that he would lose his arm. Again, he fully recovered. On July 2, 1962, David married his high school sweetheart, Garlene Moser, and they were married for 58 years. He worked many jobs growing up, but his dream job was to become a fireman and during his childhood he would always be hanging out at Roanoke City Fire Station 5 where the firemen took a liking to David. They mentored him as they were his heroes. In January of 1965, David became a fireman with the Roanoke City Fire Department where he spent the majority of his career on Ladder One at the Historic Fire Station One in downtown Roanoke. David rose through the ranks to Captain and after 37 years of service he retired in 2001. Another man of influence and mentorship in David's life was his Uncle John. His Uncle John had been a prisoner of war in World War II. On his return home from war, he soon introduced David to church and would take him every Sunday to Emmanuel Holiness Church. It took some time but in July of 1976 David accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became an active member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Another influence John had on David was that of a hard worker. Other than being a firefighter, David worked for F.L. Hatcher and Sons hauling oil, he delivered flowers for Fallon Florist, and he also started a business with other firefighters washing windows and cleaning gutters. During his spare time, David loved the game of golf, hunting, and he also played fast pitch softball as a pitcher in which he threw several "no-hitters." He also enjoyed "debating" his granddaughters about anything and everything, always getting in the last word. David's favorite verse is Matthew 7:7-8 and his favorite hymn is "How Great Thou Art." Being the fighter that he was, David survived Colon cancer, Pancreatic cancer, and battled heart disease. Many thanks to Doctors Todd and Skelton as well as their teams for their excellent care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zachariah and Helen Bocock, and by his older brother, Robert Bocock. Surviving is his wife, Garlene; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Rusty Williamson; son, David Bocock II and his beautiful granddaughters, Skylar Marie Bocock and Kaci Ann Bocock; sister, Iris Stevenson; and brother, Michael Bocock. A Graveside Service will be conducted at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke. on June 13, 2021.⁴

     Virginia Edith Mitchell was born on October 19, 1941 at Buchanan Co., Virginia.^1,2,3 As of August 2, 1963,her married name was Bocock.¹ She married Robert Taylor Bocock, son of Zachariah Taylor "Zacharia" Bocock and Helen Irene Hall, on August 2, 1963 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2 Virginia Edith Mitchell died on January 16, 2022 at Virginia at age 80.² She Virginia Mitchell Bocock, October 19, 1941 - January 16, 2022. Virginia Mitchell Bocock, 80 of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was preceded by her husband, Robert T. Bocock; daughter, Lisa Fleming; and a son, Tracy Bocock. Mrs Bocock retired as a unit secretary in the Dialysis Department at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Surviving are her son, Steven "Patricia" Bocock; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. on January 19, 2022.²

     Lisa Lynn Bocock was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.⁷ She was born on July 9, 1968 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,7,3,5 As of January 19, 1987,her married name was Boothe.¹ She married Sherman Lee Boothe II on January 19, 1987 at Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Lisa Lynn Bocock and Sherman Lee Boothe II were divorced on April 20, 1990 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁸ As of November 18, 1992,her married name was Fleming.³ Lisa Lynn Bocock married David Randal Fleming on November 18, 1992.³ Lisa Lynn Bocock died on September 11, 2006 at Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina, at age 38.^7,3 She Lisa Lynn Bocock Fleming, 38, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at her residence. Born July 9, 1968, in Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Fleming was the daughter of Robert and Virginia Mitchell Bocock of Roanoke. She was a graduate of Cave Springs High School, Roanoke, and Virginia Western College. Mrs. Fleming was a CNA and a member of Virginia Wesleyan Church in Roanoke. Survivors are her husband, David Fleming, whom she married Nov. 18, 1992; son Josh Boothe of Roanoke; daughters Kaitlynn and Kristyn Fleming of the home; and brother Steve Bocock of San Antonio, Texas. The family would like to thank Mrs. Cindy Yost and Mr. Robert Curlee for their care and concern. Mom, you remain in our hearts and spirits.
