Fox St., was killed at 5 a.m. today when the truck he was driving, upset on M-60, 2½ miles west of Union City, Mich. Sgt. Carl Freeburn, of the Branch County sheriff's department, said Sarchioto, a driver for the C & E Trucking Corp., 1311 S. Olive St., probably died instantly. He suffered fractures of his neck and skull when he was thrown through the windshield of the truck. Freeburn said Sarchioto apparently went to sleep. The semitrailer rig headed east, veered to the wrong side of the road and ran 300-feet off the highway before it hit a stump and an apple tree and flipped onto its top, the sergeant, said. There were no witnesses, the officer said. The wreck was discovered by a farmer who heard the crash and investigated when he saw the truck lights shining off the road. C & E officials here, said Sarchioto left South Bend about 2 a.m. to drive a load of frozen meat to a distributing firm in Detroit. Sarchioto, a native of New York, had worked for the C & E Corp., for eight years. He is survived by his widow, Elnora, and two children, Mark Anthony, 16 months, and Marcia Ann, 2 months. Mr. Sarchioto was born April 11, 1920, in Fort Edward, N. Y. He came here from New York 15. years ago. He was married in South Bend Nov. 15, 1947, to Elnora Woolverton. Other survivors are his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Marcho Sarchioto, of Fort Edward; six sisters, Mrs. George Irish, of Leominster, Mass., Mrs. George Gilbert, of West Glen Falls, N. Y., Mrs. Leonard Gaulin, of Hudson Falls, N. Y; Mrs. Vincent McCabec of Felt Mills, N. Y. Mrs. John Rourke, of Glen Falls, N. Y. and Mrs. Dewey Frank of South Glen Falls, N. Y., and three brothers, Joseph and John, both of Fort Edward, and Thomas, of Florida. Mr. Sarchioto was a veteran of World War II. on October 16, 1956.3 He died on October 16, 1956 at Branch Co., Michigan, at age 36.1,2,8,3

He lived with his wife in Bradenton, FL, until they placed him in the nursing home on March 2nd, 2005. Veteran of WWII: He served in the Army's 9th Armored Division as a demolition expert and later in the Army's 4th Armored Division as an army engineer. He served in Belgium, France and Germany. He was awarded two Presidential Citations for the "Battle of the Bulge" and "Remagen Bridge." He was injured on his leg from shrapnel during his tour of duty. His sergeant wanted to nominate him for a Purple Heart, but my father did not think that was necessary. He served from August 1944 to November 1945. Owned: Landscaping Business, "Home Landscaping" in the early 1940s. Worked: Commercial Freight Lines in South Bend. In 1944 he was called to serve his country. Retired: 1982 from C&E Trucking Company in South Bend after 33 years of service. Worked: 1980s at South Bend Medical Foundation as a Pinkerton security guard, then at Sherwin Williams in South Bend (both after retirement). He was a member of the VFW and The American Legion. He was a very dedicated Notre Dame football fan. He was a diabetic & suffered from macular degeneration. He started kidney dialysis in July of 2002. Betty was a hard worker all of her life. Working many years on the assembly line at Uniroyal, she still found time to prepare home-made meals for her family. She was a great cook. She also enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She and grandpa would take the grandkids in their RV to fun campgrounds like Indiana Beach and Magic Mountain. Betty also loved to play bingo, euchre, and Ship Cap&Crew. She will be missed dearly. on April 3, 2007.3

Surviving are his son, Kristin Joseph (Danelle) Woolverton of St. Joseph, MI; a grandchild, Kennedy; his longtime girlfriend of 20 years, Trudy Armstrong of Mishawaka, her daughter, Holly; sisters, Sue (David) Stickler of Niles, MI, Lori (Bob) Liddell of Goshen and Gina (Van) McCray of Osceola; brothers, Gary Barnard of Mishawaka and Chris (Roseann) Woolverton of South Bend; his stepfather, Jack Day; half sisters, Tracy (Carl) Burch and Jean (Jeremy) Fritz, all of Winamac. Kevin worked at St. Joseph County Archives and Records Center as a warehouse coordinator. He had a generous and giving heart. His family and friends were the most important things in life to him, including his close friends, Jerry and Brent. He loved music, reading, fishing and playing pool. Kevin will be greatly missed, always remembered and forever loved. Kevin was a born-again Christian as in the Book of Lambs. Private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery. on August 19, 2008.3

McCray Jr., 68, of Osceola passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in his home. Van was born on May 8, 1954, in South Bend, IN to Vander E. McCray Sr. and Marlene (DeFreeuw) Wafer. He is preceded in death by his father. On June 6, 1987, in Mishawaka Van married the former Gina Woolverton who survives. Also surviving is his mother, Marlene; children, Jennifer (Sean) Cook of Lakeville, Matthew McCray of Mishawaka, Marie (Pete) Ciula of North Liberty and Jason (Melissa) McCray of Mishawaka; step daughter, Nicole (Shane) Jodway of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Rory Cook, Rowan Cook, Grace McCray and Savhana Pletcher; 2 step grandchildren, Julius and Lola Jodway; brothers, Marc (Sue) McCray of Mishawaka, Mike (Leoni) McCray of Osceola; and a sister, Martha McCall of North Carolina. Van was a man of many talents. He could fix anything he set his mind to and sell anything to anyone. He enjoyed walking at the River Walk and sitting on his front porch enjoying the beautiful scenery. Van enjoyed the simple things in life like making homemade pizza with his family and watching Notre Dame Football. He was a great mentor, always smiling or laughing and normally had a joke for everyone. He loved music and having family and friends over for get togethers. Van always had either a motorcycle or a “fast car” that he was tinkering with in the garage. He always loved hearing his granddaughters say “faster Papa, faster” while he was squealing his tires and zooming down the road playing Queen. on January 12, 2023.1
