Born Dec. 1, 1948, he was the son of James Edward Foster Sr. and the late Irene Edwards Foster. James was employed as a florist at Snow Thorton. He attended the Terry Baptist Church. James served with the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a Vietnam Veteran. In addition to his mother Irene, James was preceded in death by stepmother Marie Frances Woolwine Foster; grandfather John Foster; grandmother Bessie Edwards; grandfather Wesley Edwards; grandmother Annie Clifford; and several aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish his memory include his father James Foster Sr. of Beckley; brothers Terry Foster of Charlotte, N.C., Doug Foster of Beckley, James David Foster of Beckley; sisters Debra Tucker and husband John of Beckley, Donna Souder and husband David of Mt. Hope, Karen Akers of Beckley, Angela Gunther and husband Brian of Beckley; nieces and nephews, Mary Souder, Becky Martin, Roger Akers III, Heather Tucker, Trevor Hopkins, Shelby Foster, Levi Foster, BJ Gunther. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Chaplain Ron Browning officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12 noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society. on December 10, 2007.²

     Douglas Ray Foster was born on December 15, 1956.⁵ He died on February 17, 2011 at West Virginia at age 54.^5,3 He Douglas Ray Foster, 54, of Old Eccles Road, formerly of Terry, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. In keeping with his wishes, Douglas will be cremated and there will be no formal services. on February 19, 2011.³
