He was the former owner of Archeries in Wallingford. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, as well as an archery instructor, and was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Waterbury. Mr. Epperly is survived by a son, Richard Brian Epperly of New York; two daughters, Lisa Steiner of New Hampshire and Rebecca Rudge of Arizona. He leaves several nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild — as well as his companion, Michelle Carraro of Naugatuck. He is predeceased by a daughter, Debra Epperly; and three brothers, John Epperly, Marshall Epperly and Wilbur Epperly. on July 18, 2001.5
