Survivors include her husband, R. Frank Baker; a son, Thomas Byrne of Aberdeen, Md:; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth V. Wood of Livermore, Calif , Mrs. June H. Jackson of Clendinen, and Mrs. Mary K. Carter of Jacksonville, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Cottle of Fayettevlll , Mrs. Camma Bishop of Oak Hill and Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Sebring, Fla; a brother, Orville Nugen of Clay; and nine grandchildren. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Mausoleum. on April 23, 1976.5

Following the death of her husband in 2000, she moved to Charleston, and resided under the loving care of her son, Diab. In the later years of her life, she delighted her family with gifts of original paintings and poetry that reflected her love of her family and God. Survivors include four children, G. Ramon Thomas Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Mastic, N.Y., and Ramona Divita and her husband, Philip, Shelley Prettyman and her husband, Terry, and Diab Thomas, all of Charleston; two sisters, Ruth Lester of Bluefield and Clara Schreiber and her husband, Bill, of Oklahoma City, Okla; seven grandchildren and their spouses; and seven great-grandchildren. Christian burial service will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. on January 5, 2012.3

She was born in Minden, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Theodore Alvin and Lelia Mae Nugen Hatfield. She was a graduate of the Class of 1944 of Bluefield High School. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bluefield, W.Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, A. Sid Lester Jr; sisters, Olive Peck and husband, Kyle, Minnie Lee Thomas and husband, George, and Katherine Sue Grude; and one brother, Theodore Hatfield and wife, Francis. Survivors are one daughter, Pam Lester of Richlands, Va; one son, Arthur Sidney Lester III "Sid" and wife, Judy of Blountville, Tenn; one sister, Clara Schreiber and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, Okla; two grandsons, Michael Lester of Abingdon, Va., and Jonathan Lester of Blountville, Tenn; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Peck of Sablne, will be Wednesday. Burial will be in Monte Vista Cemetery, Bluefield. The youth died Monday at his home after a heart attack. He been seriously ill for a week. He was a member of the sixth grade class at the Sablne School, born Oct. 7, 1942 at Matoaka. For several years his father been superintendent of the Bellmeade Coal Company at Sabine. In addition to the parents, surviving are two brothers, Thomas Edward, 4, and Robert William, 2; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mae Hatfield, of Bluefield. on March 2, 1954.2
