Born Nov. 24, 1921, at Garten, she was the daughter of the late Vernie McCelland. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Epperly, in 1993, as well as a son, Jerry Wayne Epperly, and brothers, George Young, Ray Young and Harold Young. Juanita was a homemaker and a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Surviving: her daughter, Carol Jean Files of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Rusty Gilliam and his wife, Gwenn, of Fredericksburg, Va., Stephanie Cahoon and her husband, Billy, of Suffolk, Va., and David C. Files and his wife, Julie, of Virginia Beach, Va; several great- and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville. on April 23, 2014.1

Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville. Epperly was recovered Sunday from the James River near Richmond. He had been missing since Dec. 27. Born at Oak Hill, he was a son of Woodrow W. and Juanita Young Epperly of Fayetteville. He was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and a 1967 graduate of Fayetteville High School. In addition to parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Carol File of Richmond, Va. on May 20, 1973.4

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Lynn Epperly of Mount Hope; a son, Robert Epperly of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Patsy Lepto and her husband, Mike, of Beckley, Reva Burge and her husband, Wayne, of Beckley and Debra Painter and her husband, Howard, of Hurricane; a brother, Robert Epperly of Dewitt. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by McDonald-Warren Lodge No. 103 AF and AM of Mount Hope. on February 15, 1997.8
