Sharon graduated as an LPN from Lynchburg General in 1977, and after much hard work and determination, she became an RN with an ASN degree from Regents University in New York. She began her nursing career at Lynchburg General Hospital in 1977 but retired as Director of Outpatient Surgery from John Randolph Medical Center in February of 2006 after 27 years of dedicated service. Sharon loved to travel with her husband, and her favorite vacations were those where she could play the slot machines. Sharon loved to karaoke with her sisters, take long naps and shopping sprees with her daughter, Katie, and cheer on her daughter, Kelly, and husband, Wayne, at the race track. Sharon was an avid cat lover and liked to do sketches of mice, which she would include on special occasion cards to friends and family. Interment Dale Memorial Park. on October 30, 2007.4

     Earl Thornton Thomas Earl Thornton Thomas, 82, of Madison Heights, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at his residence surrounded by family following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kate Hamilton Thomas. Born in Lynchburg, December 23, 1936 he was the son of the late Lloyd Ogden Thomas and Hazel Dalton Thomas. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 30 years of service and later retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after 30 years of service. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed attending Providence Bible Church and meeting his friends at Hardee's. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. Two sons, Earl Thomas, Jr. and Donald Wayne Thomas; two brothers, Cliff Thomas and Dave Thomas; and one sister, Betty Jean Layne preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judy Thomas of Amherst and Betty Mae Dickerson of Madison Heights; one son, Larry Wayne Thomas of Madison Heights; one sister, Joyce Burley of Amherst; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.4 He was buried at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia.5 He was born on December 23, 1936 at Lynchburg, Virginia.3,4 He married Kate Lula Hamilton, daughter of Emmitt Hamilton and Onie Frances Tyler, on April 6, 1964 at Madison Heights, Amherst Co., Virginia.1,2,6,4,7 Earl Thornton Thomas died on February 20, 2019 at Madison Heights, Amherst Co., Virginia, at age 82.4
