He leaves behind his children, Elizabeth Smith Lisota (Justin) of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Grant Davidson Smith (Amanda) of Lynchburg; along with his grandchildren, James Davidson Smith (12), Caraline Jean Smith (11), and Beckett Grant Lisota (7). on December 4, 2016.5

Through her journey she never left us forgetting how precious life is and worth fighting for. Rebecca was an amazing and loving mother and friend. She was a proud 1965 graduate of E.C. Glass High School, a former employee of Craddock-Terry, Designs on You, J. Crew, Bausch and Lomb, and no doubt an animal lover. Rebecca is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Smith Lisota and her husband, Justin and their son Beckett Grant of Milwaukee, WI; her son Grant Davidson Smith and his wife Amanda and their two children, James Davidson and Caraline Jean. Born in Lynchburg on April 2, 1938, he was the son of John Bibb Ewers and Juanita Holt Ewers, both deceased. He was proud to have served in the VA Army National Guard for 32 years. He joined at the age of 17 and served in the 29th Infantry Division. After serving as an infantryman for approximately 19 years he moved to the food service 329th Support Group in Virginia Beach and served for approximately 13 years, during which time he managed numerous kitchens and included in his travels he served in Cairo, Egypt. Linwood is survived by his wife, Joyce Honig Ewers of Williamsburg and a son, Karl Brett Ewers, USAF, New Mexico and preceded in death by a daughter Wanda LaTrelle Ewers. He is also survived by six grandchildren Jason Briggs, Eric Briggs, Patrick Ewers, Kathryn Ewers, Kayla Ewers and Madelyn Ewers; a sister Connie Garrett and her husband Wilson of Goode; a brother, John Wyndol Ewers and his wife Phyllis of Madison Heights, and special friends Ed and Kathryne Cosby and Oscar T. Smith. Two brothers preceded him in death, Arnold B. Ewers and Merwyn A. Ewers. Burial will follow in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post #16.1 He married Joyce Ann Honig.1,10 Linwood Earl Ewers was born on April 2, 1938 at Lynchburg, Virginia.1,2,9,3,4 He died on July 21, 2005 at Williamsburg, Virginia, at age 67.1,9,10,4,5

Joyce Ann Honig was buried at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Appomattox, Appomattox Co., Virginia.3 She Joyce Ann Honig Ewers, who loved to be called "Mom" by her kids, departed her loving family on May 4, 2022. She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on August 4, 1938, to Willard and Edna Honig. She raised her two children, LaTrelle and Karl, with love and devotion in Concord, Virginia, with her husband Linwood E. Ewers, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda LaTrelle Ewers on November 25, 2001, and her granddaughter, Madelyn A. Ewers on April 14, 2021. As a full-charge bookkeeper, Joyce was known for her experience and levels of expertise in administrative assistance, executive secretary, with excellent typing and shorthand skills. Graduating with honors, her studies included accounting, bookkeeping, business law, English, typing, and shorthand. Joyce's hobbies included piano, guitar, singing, crocheting, and knitting. She was most proud of her Christmas dolls, Santa, Mrs. Santa, and the two carolers. Her other talent was drafting and designing of house plans and landscaping. She was noted to have taken drafting plans to a licensed drafter and was told they basically needed minor improvements. He approved and signed. She was that good. She is survived by her son, Karl B. Ewers Retired USAF, residing in Phoenix, Ariz; grandchildren, Patrick R. Ewers, Kathryn D. Ewers, and Kayla N. Ewers, Jason Biggs and wife, Jessica, and Eric Biggs; and her great-grandchildren, Brody D. Ewers (son of Madelyn Ewers) who shared his great-grandmother's birthday, Alec Biggs, and Tayrn Biggs. Joyce is also survived by her sisters, whom she doted on, Sylvia Silby, Barbara Womack, and Linda Honig-Smith; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Ewers; brother-in-law, Wilson Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.3 Her married name was Ewers.1 She married Linwood Earl Ewers, son of John Bibb Ewers Jr. and Juanita Vashti Holt.1,3 Joyce Ann Honig was born on August 4, 1938 at Lynchburg, Virginia.2,3 She died on May 4, 2022 at Virginia at age 83.3
