Surviving are his wife, Rita Carol Hively, daughters, Alison Ann at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Hively of Clendenin Rt. 4; brothers, William Darrell of Bomont, Darris Owen of Charleston; sisters, Imogene England and Mrs. Judy Grose of Elkview, Mrs. Mae Parsons and Miss Alpha Hively of Clendenin Rt. 4, Mrs. Loretta Keener of St. Albans; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Hively of Clendenin Rt. 4; great-grandmother, Mrs. Retta Elmore of Clendenin Rt. 4. The body is at Knight and Young Funeral Home in Clendenin. on February 21, 1968.⁵

Judy was born December 31, 1948, and was a daughter of the late Dalton and Dorothy Schoolcraft Hively of Clendenin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, James David Grose; paternal grandparents, Oran and Freda Hively; maternal grandparents, Ruffus and Dovie Schoolcraft; sister, Emogene England; and brothers, William Darrell Hively and Guy Richard Hively. She attended Herbert Hoover High School and worked in the Charleston area most of her working years. Judy is survived by one granddaughter, Harley Brianna of Charleston; brother, Darris Hively of Clendenin; sisters, Mae Parsons of Clendenin, Loretta Grimwood of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Alpha Boggs of Big Chimney; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom she loved with all her heart. In accordance with Judy's wishes her body will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Crown Catering in Clendenin. Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, is handling the arrangements. on April 2, 2010.²

He was a squadron leader aboard the B-26 bomber during World War II and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a pioneer in the development and flight testing of rescue helicopters in the Air Force. He was a retired colonel from the Air Force Reserves. He began his airline career with National Airlines. He retired as a DC-10 captain with 25 years' service. Surviving: wife, Wava Elmore Cover; daughters, Valerie Cover Whiten of Louisa, Ky., Gail Maggard DiCicco of Waukesha, Wis; son, Capt. Phillip Randall Cover of Davie, Fla; brothers, William and Larry Cover, both of Zanesville, Ohio; sister, Juanita Coyer of Zanesville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, with Pastor Claudio Consuegra officiating. Burial will be in Koontz Cemetery, Clendenin, with the U.S. Air Force conducting military graveside rites assisted by VFW Post No. 8516, Elkview. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. on July 30, 1998.²
