Grider enjoyed the outdoors and retired from the Department of Fish and Game in 1984. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kay Grider; daughter, Cheryl (Red) Crowder; son, Donald (Jeanine) Grider, Jr; two grandsons, Mickey and William Grider; two sisters, Peggy and Gloria; and numerous other family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at noon at the Grider Ranch in Cazadero. on January 14, 2009.⁴

     Mark William Poff was born on September 16, 1961 at Virginia.³ He died on October 19, 2010 at North Carolina at age 49.^3,2 He Mark William Poff, 49, of Calabash, N.C., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was a graduate of Cave Spring High School. Mark was the former owner of Ernie's on the Market and then moved to Calabash, N.C., where he owned and operated Mark Poff Yacht Sales and "The Saltwater Angler" offshore tackle and apparel store. He was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water. Survivors include his parents, Margaret and William Glenwood Poff; sister, Karen Cunningham and husband, Bill; brother, Keith Poff and wife, Jodi, of Roanoke; nieces and nephew, Nicholas Helle, Margaret Ashley Helle, Caroline, Lily, and Mollie Poff; special friend, Vickie Terry; and Marks dog, Bailey. A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Cave Spring United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Hemmings and the Rev. Dan Barber officiating.
