He graduated from the Argentine High School in Kansas City, KS and attended the Community College with a degree in business and music. After school he lived in KC, KS and worked at Phillips Petroleum until he went into the U. S. Army. After the service, he moved back to KC, KS and worked for the Board of Public Utilities. He started as a dispatcher and worked his way up to a purchasing agent. He met Wanda B. Matthews at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles (F.O.E) in 1983. They were married August 27, 1984 in Virginia Beach, VA. He retired from Public Utilities on July 1, 1996 and moved to Rockaway Beach, MO the same year. Scotty was a very energetic individual. He was a member of the F.O.E for many years and served as the Kansas State President for Area 87. He was also a member of the American Legion and was very big in hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed hunting pheasants. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and cheered for the KC Chiefs and Jayhawkers. He was as member of the Bridge of Faith Baptist Church of Rockaway Beach. He had a mischievous streak and was slightly ornery at times, but was well liked by all. He enjoyed delighting his friends with tall tales. He was very patriotic and demonstrated his strong faith by being devoted to his community, church and family. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Scott of Rockaway Beach; six sons, George Scott and wife, Jerri of Oakgrove, MO, Doug Scott of Williamsburg, VA, Don Scott of Jacksonville, NC, Dennis Scott of Oakgrove, MO, Rick Haynes and wife, Patti of Rockaway Beach, Hugh Haynes and wife, Leah of Kansas City, KS; three daughters, Kathy Longmire and husband, Gary of Virginia Beach, VA, Mellissa Scott of Rockaway Beach, Sheila Carley of Forsyth; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Jerry Haynes.5 He married Teresa G.
