Madeline Margaret Slusher married James Woodrow Drewry Sr., son of James George Drewry and Dovie Harriet Goode.¹ Madeline Margaret Slusher was born on July 1, 1921.² She died on May 8, 2007 at Virginia at age 85.^2,1 She Madeline Slusher Drewry, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She was the widow of James W. Drewry, Sr. She was an administrative assistant at TAP, OIC and 5th Planning District. She is survived by daughters, Donna D. Wilson and partner, E. Victor Voras, Jr., Northport, Mich., Darlene B. Barnett and husband, Charles Barnett, Austin, Texas; sons, James W. Drewry, Jr. Roanoke, Va., David L. Drewry Roanoke, Va; granddaughter, Michele Goacher-Helms and husband, Merv Helms Roanoke, Va; grandson, Jeremy Barnett and wife, Laura, Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Madeline Goacher, Savannah Goacher, Patrick Helms, Gavin Helms; sister, Helen Webb. He was the widower of Jeanne Mae Lewis Clatterbuck, a graduate of William Fleming High School and National Business College, a World War II Naval veteran, and was retired. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, George H. "Buddy" and Kim Clatterbuck, III, of Vacaville, Calif; Grant L. and Candace J. Clatterbuck, of Roanoke; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia J. and Charles W. Colburn, of Cypress, Calif; eight grandchildren; a brother, Ronald D. Clatterbuck, of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday from Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. David A. Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Clatterbuck, 83, of Roanoke, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 with his wife of 43 years by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Mary C. Clatterbuck; brother, George H. Clatterbuck, Jr; and nephew, Grant L. Clatterbuck. He is survived by his wife, Heidi M. Clatterbuck; niece, Cyndi Colburn of Irvin, Calif; nephew, George H. Clatterbuck of Vacaville, Calif; cousin, Kay Clatterbuck of Roanoke, Va; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Greg and Gudrun Freeman; nephew and wife, Frank and Astrid Freeman and their children, Zachary and Nicholas; niece, Stephanie McKinney and husband, Jeff and their children, Kirsten and Jake McKinney.      George William Drewry Jr. was born on July 21, 1941 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.³ He married Carol Sue Hitchcock on May 30, 1963 at Roanoke, Virginia.^4,5 George William Drewry Jr. died on April 28, 2019 at Virginia at age 77.² He George W. Drewry Jr., 77, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019. He was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Trustee. George worked for American Electric Power as a right-of-way agent then was owner/operator of Southern Real Estate and Right-of-Way. He loved sports including baseball, football, NASCAR, traveling and cars. George was preceded in death by his wife, Carol H. Drewry. He is survived by his children, David B. Drewry and his wife, Brenda, Julie A. Drewry and her husband, Lee Slover, and Kenneth F. Drewry and his wife, Emily; grandchildren, Evan, Maura, Samantha and Sara Drewry; and special nephew, Donald Ridenhour. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service. on May 1, 2019.²

     Carol Sue Hitchcock was born on May 14, 1943 at Oak Hill, Fayette Co., West Virginia.^1,3,2 As of May 30, 1963,her married name was Drewry.¹ She married George William Drewry Jr., son of George William Drewry Sr. and Missouri Jane "Nanny" Rosenbaum, on May 30, 1963 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,2 Carol Sue Hitchcock died on October 20, 2009 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 66.^3,4,2 She Carol Sue Hitchcock Drewry, 66, of Roanoke, Va., left this world suddenly on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Carol was born on May 14, 1943, in Oak Hill, W.Va., to Bertha Mae and Hubert Cecil Hitchcock, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brother, whom she fondly called Freddie. Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who raised three children while working as a secretary at American Bridge; Norfolk & Western; Hayes, Seay, Mattern, and Mattern; and for Charlie Phillips. She wanted all of her children to receive a college education and made it a priority. After her children finished college and she retired, Carol dedicated many hours to volunteering at the Presbyterian Community Center. She also cooked, read, knitted, sewed, and did needlework in her spare time. Once her husband, George, retired from AEP, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and cruising. Carol was always planning the next trip in her mind. Carol's primary avocation was working in her church, First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, Va. Carol served as an Elder and was Clerk of the Session for many years. She worked with the children's ministry as a keyboardist for the children's choir, serving as a table parent for many wonderful children in Logos, making snacks at Vacation Bible School, and doing whatever else needed to be done to care for the children. Additionally, Carol sang in the Chancel Choir and played handbells in the Carilloneurs. When she wasn't at home or traveling with her beloved husband, Carol was at the church volunteering, attending Sunday School or worship services, or doing anything else she was asked. Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, George William Drewry Jr., will always love her; and by her three children, their spouses, and their children, David and Brenda Drewry (Evan and Maura), Julie Drewry and Lee Slover, and Ken and Emily Drewry (Samantha and Sara). She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Ridenhour. Carol also left behind numerous special friends and family members, many of whom fondly called her "Mom" as well. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, Roanoke, Va., led by the Rev. Robert D. Smith. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall where the family will receive friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be directed to the First Presbyterian Building Fund, 2101 S. Jefferson St., Roanoke, Va. 24014. Carol said that she spent so much time at the church during her life that she wanted her final resting place to be next to George in the columbarium to be built as part of the current building project. on October 22, 2009.²
