     Harry Curtis "Sonny" King Jr. was born on September 28, 1953 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,5 He married Vicky Gail Dillon on May 25, 1973 at Roanoke, Virginia.³ Harry Curtis "Sonny" King Jr. died on June 8, 2018 at Bedford Co., Virginia, at age 64.⁴ He On Wednesday June 6, 2018, angels came and ushered Harry Curtis "Sonny" King Jr., 64, of Bedford County, Va., into the presence of his Heavenly Father. Waiting there for him were his beloved mother, Geneva Bolling Fleenor; his grandparents, Isaac and Audrey Bolling; and a special cousin, Eddie Roden. Sonny was a general contractor for many years, and in his spare time he loved to breed and raise horses and play guitar. In recent years he became self-taught luthier, meticulously hand crafting beautiful acoustic guitars. He is survived by his father, Harry C. King Sr. (Christine); his four daughters, Catina Wright, Sonya Mullins, Suni "Nikki" Heflin (Cameron), and Jessica Tolley (Brian); seven grandchildren, Joshua Wright, Madison Wright, Brady Mullins, Karly Mullins, Callie Heflin, Cate Heflin and Reese Brunner; his sister, Glenna Dunn (Mike); niece, Apryl Dunn Butler; a nephew, Chad Dunn (Colby); and many cousins and close friends. His family would like to thank his caregiver and special friend, Juanita Powell, for her loving care, and Good Samaritan Hospice. on June 8, 2018.⁴

He proudly served in the United States Army and retired an officer of the Virginia Department of Corrections. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis M. Sumner of Christiansburg, Virginia; daughter, Lisa S. Jarrett of Falls Church, Virginia; son, Archie H. Sumner, Jr. of Dublin, Virginia, and his late wife, Debra A. Sumner; and one grandchild, Tyler C. Jarrett of Falls Church, Virginia. The family gives thanks and appreciation to all at Gentiva Hospice, Roanoke, Virginia, and Careosity, LLC, Christiansburg, Virginia. The care and attention given to Archie made his passing much easier. A graveside service was held at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Virginia. on June 15, 2023.⁵

Cupp Sr., 69, of Christiansburg, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Duke University Medical Hospital. He was a paving contractor serving the New River Valley for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Virginia Akers Cupp; his son, Jerry Richard Cupp II; and his sister, Charlotte Cupp Beckner.
