Betty Jean Larman was born on May 23, 1932 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia.4,5,2,3 As of August 15, 1950,her married name was Craft.2 She married James Edwin "Jimmy" Craft, son of Robert Frazier Craft and Bertha Ann Reid, on August 15, 1950 at Clifton Forge, Alleghany Co., Virginia.1,4,2 Betty Jean Larman died on September 4, 2012 at Hampton, Virginia, at age 80.5,4,6 She NEWPORT NEWS - Betty L. Craft, age 80, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at her daughter's home with her grandchildren and family present. A native of Clifton Forge, she was a Newport News resident for 56 years. Mrs. Craft retired as a branch manager of Home Federal Savings & Loan, after 25 years of service. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority to which she pledged in 1954. She was a charter member of Preceptor Alpha Pi; Laureate Delta; and Alpha Kappa Master where she held all major offices. She also served as an officer at the Virginia State Beta Sigma Phi Convention. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Craft and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Hockaday and husband, Douglas of Hampton; her sister, Cheryl Holmes and husband, Gary of Mechanicsville; her sister-in-law, Jayne Putnam and her husband, Bob of Clifton Forge; three grandchildren; Douglas Jr. and wife, Nikki, Matthew, and Alex; step-granddaughter, Kristy Daniel; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. on September 8, 2012.4
