He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Trudy, and children Rhonda, Dana, Mike, Rocky, Denise, Mark, and Sherry, as well as many subsequent generations, all of whom loved him dearly. Jack found joy in his family, square dancing, and key chain collecting, along with crafting and donating toys to children's hospitals and organizations with other members of the S.D. Fine Woodworkers Assn. He also served the club yearly at the S.D. County Fair, "Design in Wood" Exhibit, welcoming visitors and answering questions. He came to Durant in 1992 from Liberal, where he had been a lifelong resident. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Richard Allen Thurman. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Denison, with pallbearers Hector Trevino, Christian Holloway, Kenneth William Holloway, Coy Simmons, Matthew Williams and Ed Strafford.
