     Pearl Brigance Pearl Brigance Moore, 92, died July 8, 2009 in Sacramento, Calif. Members of her immediate family made graveside tributes July 18, 2009. Interment was under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. She was a long-time resident of Olton and West Texas. Born Dec. 2, 1916, in Big Spring, she was the daughter of Albert C. and Eula Brigance. The family moved to Plainview, and then to Olton in 1927. She was an Olton High School graduate and a Texas Tech University graduate. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Olton. She married Elmer J. Moore on June 6,1937. They started a family in 1940, and spent the war years in Levelland and Flagstaff, Ariz. In 1946, they moved to Shamrock, where her husband was the superintendent of schools and she was his administrative assistant. In 1956, they moved back to Olton, where they were engaged in farming and school teaching. She had 27 years of service in Texas public schools. They were married 65 years. After her husband’s death in August 2002, she sold her home in Olton and moved to Sacramento in 2003 to live near her two children and three of her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend throughout her life. She was selected as Sandhills Celebration Queen in 1994, the same year her husband served as grand marshal of the Sandhills Celebration Parade. They were proud to be honored by her friends and neighbors. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Pauline Todd, Dorothy Russell and Ruth Cornelius; and a brother, Merrill Brigance. She is survived by her son, Jerry Moore and his wife, Sue, of Los Angeles, Calif; her daughter, Judy Moore, of Sacramento; four grandchildren, Schell, Scott, Melinda and Kim; three great-grandsons, Jason, Preston and Riley; a sister, LaNeile Ford; a sister-in-law, DeMetris Brigance; a brother-in-law, GW Moore, and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to Olton Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1055, Olton, TX 79064.2 She was buried at Olton Cemetery, Olton, Lamb Co., Texas.1 She was born on December 2, 1916 at Big Spring, Howard Co., Texas.1,2,3 As of June 6, 1937,her married name was Moore.1 She married Elmer J. She and Robert Cole were married Sept. 21, 1946, in Byers, Texas. They owned Quality Glass in Duncan for 33 years. Maxine was very active in numerous groups and organizations throughout her life. She and Bob shared 62 glorious years of marriage. Maxine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Bob Cole of the home in Waurika; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Lynn and Jeanne Cole of Garden Grove, Calif; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwyndolyn Sue and Greg Gardner of Katy, Texas, and Sheila Renee and Adam Davis of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Pauline Phillips of Oklahoma City, and Lois Thompson of Pampa, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amy Moss, Shelly Wilson, Sara Wilson, Jon Cole, Melissa Murphy, Cole Morris and Jered Davis; and five great-grandchildren. on September 29, 2008.2

Morrow, daughter of Jesse Samuel "Sam" Morrow and Mary Fatina Scott, on September 7, 1932 at Nashua, Chickasaw Co., Iowa.5,3 Virgil William Geno died on November 16, 2005 at Sigourney, Keokuk Co., Iowa, at age 93.2,4,3 He Virgil W. Geno, 93, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in the Sigourney Care Center following a brief illness. Services: 2 p.m. today, Sigourney Christian Church, by the Rev. Jim Bringman. Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney, with military rites. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are with Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service in Sigourney. Survivors include his wife, Cleda of Sigourney. Virgil was born April 7, 1912, in Van Buren Township, Keokuk County, to Fred and Sarah (McClenahan) Geno. He attended country school and graduated from Sigourney High School. On Sept. 7, 1932, he married Cleda Morrow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Virgil served in the U.S. Army under General George Patton during World War II. He farmed and managed the Napa auto parts store in Sigourney for 27 years. Virgil was a member of Sigourney Christian Church and American Legion Post 19. Military rites provided by Lacey Kerr VFW Post 2308 and American Legion Post 19. A memorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Christian Church. on November 18, 2005.3

He was born May 3, 1938, the son of James Taylor Norwood and Nadine Moses Norwood. Lynn is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Betty Winfrey Norwood, of Shawsville; one son, Michael J. Norwood; and one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Robert Joyner, all of Christiansburg; one brother, James G. Norwood, of Shawsville, one sister, Linda N. Ring, of Georgia; brother-in-law, David Winfrey and his wife, of North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews. Lynn served in the United States Air Force and was then employed by General Electric for 48 years. He was a member of Crockett Springs United Methodist Church. Lynn will be remembered as a devoted family man and a much respected member of his community. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Crockett Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville, Va. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, Va. 24018.
