He was born January 5, 1932 in Ashville, Ohio. After 30 years of service to his country, including campaigns in Korea and Vietnam, Mr. Brinker retired from the United States Air Force in 1981 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He received many medals and commendations during his Air Force career, including; the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. After his retirement from active duty, Mr. Brinker worked for twelve years at NASA in the Space Shuttle Program. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Lake Morton. He is survived by his wife of eight years; Harriette Brinker, daughter; Trudy (Jeffrey) Woolston, brother; Thomas (Nancy) Brinker, sister; Jo (Charles) Wilburn and grandchildren; Jared and Laura. A visitation will be conducted in Mr. Brinker's honor, Monday, November 1, 2010 from 6-8pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home Northside Chapel at 5245 US 98 North in Lakeland. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 11am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. on October 31, 2010.3
