Leonard Robinette Wood Leonard R. Wood, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at home following an extended illness. Born February 22, 1922 at Dempsey, WV he was a son of the late Dallas William and Sarah Eileen Robinett Wood. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eldridge B. Wood. Mr. Wood had attended the Lansing Baptist Church in Lansing, an Army Veteran of WW II, and a lifetime member of the Fayetteville American Legion Post 149. He had built several homes in the Fayette County area, a coal miner, and a bridge superintendent. Survivors include his wife Laura Wood; three children, Linda Ramsey and her husband Eddie, Bruce Wood and his wife, Becky, Craig Wood and his wife Sonya; three grandchildren, Kimberly Wood, Greg Wood and Tara Sisk; two great grandchildren, Emma Wood and Ethan Sisk; one brother, Lavern Wood; one sister, Nannie Lee Hundley; several nieces and nephews. She resided in Ebensburg, PA. and was born on March 19, 1941 in Oak Hill, WV. She was the daughter of the late James Alexander McCormick and Zella May Tallent and granddaughter of her beloved grandmother Emma Martin. Preceded in her journey to heaven by 2 months was her husband Bill J. Clark who was her high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years. Surviving are her daughters, Cynthia L. Carter and Dawn M. Davis and husband Mark J. Davis, as well as her grandchildren Madison D. Carter, Savannah R. Carter, Nicole C. James and husband David R. James, Jr. their children Camryn and Jaxon, step-grandchildren Michael J. Davis wife Emily and their children Kaitlin and Tyler, Matthew J. Davis wife Anne and their children James, Jack, and Gwen. In addition, she is survived by her brother Larry Lezon and Paul Lezon and wife Mary Lou, cousin Linda Ramsey and husband Eddie and friend Audrey Wood. Sandra worked hard in several family businesses including a sewing business, a campground and as motel owner with her husband in Grantsville, PA. She was a wonderful cook and often made what her grandchildren affectionately named Granny Fried Chicken which was a family favorite. Sandra also enjoyed gardening.
