Judy Yvonne Moore was buried at Olton Cemetery, Olton, Lamb Co., Texas.4,5 She Graveside services for Judy Moore, 82, of Carrollton, and formerly of Olton will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024. Born Oct. 12, 1941, in Littlefield, she was the daughter of Elmer and Pearl Moore. She passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, and will be laid to rest next to her mother. She spent her early years in Shamrock and moved to Olton in February 1956. A 1959 Olton High School graduate, she moved to Canyon to attend and graduate from West Texas State College, now West Texas A&M University. It was at the college that she met her husband. They moved to Colorado as she supported her husband's graduate-level academic endeavors. She welcomed her daughter, Schell, in 1961 in Greeley County, CO. The family moved to Syracuse, KS, where her joy as a mother doubled in 1968 with the birth of her son, Scott. The family moved to Dallas in 1970, and a few years later she stepped into the role of a single mother raising two children. With her son in college, she moved to California to be near her daughter, eventually taking on one of her favorite roles, that of loving grandmother to Jason Shaughnessy. A few years later, there were two more grandsons to love, Preston and Riley O'Neal. Living in the Sacramento area, she continued her career with the State of California, receiving numerous promotions through the years. Being in California also allowed her to be close to her older brother, Jerry Moore, who was always there for her and helped her prepare for her retirement years. Having a love for nature and people, she made frequent trips to places where the beauty of nature was always on display. Traveling often, her favorite destination was Big Sur. A spiritual person, she was a member of the Unitarian church. She offered amazing help to her son's family while her daughter-in-law, Debbie O'Neal, battled cancer for eight years. Following the death of her daughter in 2019, she returned to the Dallas area in 2022 to be near her son. She exhibited a welcoming personality and a fun-loving spirit throughout her life. She often joked with family and friends, even giving her caregivers a hard time during her last days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pearl Moore; her daughter, Schell Shaughnessy in 2019; and an infant granddaughter, Skyler O'Neal in 2001. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Scott O'Neal of Allen, TX; three grandsons, Jason Shaughnessy and wife Alexa of Sacramento, CA, Preston O'Neal of Allen, and Riley O'Neal of Allen; and one great grandchild, Georgia Shaughnessy of Sacramento, CA.
