     Homer Hersal Farley was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert Centre Byrd Drive, Prosperity, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2,3 He married Joy Fleshman.2,3 Homer Hersal Farley was born on July 4, 1921 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia.2 He died on September 5, 1956 at Glen Rogers, Wyoming Co., West Virginia, at age 35.2,3 He BECKLEY, Sept. 5 - A Glen Daniels miner died at work in a Mercer County mine this morning. Attendants at Webb and Quesenberry mortuary here said that Homer Hersal Farley, 35, was apparently crushed to death by a piece of mine machinery. Farley was a brakeman at a mine in Glen Rogers. A member of UMW Local No 6004, he had lived in Raleigh County all his life. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Joy Fleshman Farley; his parents Mr. and Mrs. James B. Farley of Oak Hill; two brothers, Page of Sophia and Billy of Cleveland, O; two sisters, Miss Katherine Farley of Washington, D.C., and Miss Shelby Farley of Sophia. Rev. Doff Harvey will conduct the service at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Shiloh Baptist Church at Saxon. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens here. The body will be taken to the residence at Glen Daniels at 6 p.m. Thursday and will be removed to the church one hour before the service. on September 6, 1956.3

     James Samuel Kelley Jr. was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 He was born on June 2, 1932 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,2 He married Nadine Rock, daughter of Hubert Laborton Rock and Wanda Florence Gray, circa 1988.1,2 James Samuel Kelley Jr. died on May 12, 2008 at Virginia at age 75.3,2 He James Samuel Kelley Jr., 75, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, after a brief illness. Jim, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, was born in Roanoke, Va., on June 2, 1932. In addition to his parents, Ida Mae and James S. Kelley Sr., he is predeceased by a brother, Alton R. Kelley, and a sister Kathleen Shelor. Jim graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Education, and from the University of Virginia with a Master's degree in Counseling. Jim lovingly served his country with the Air Force during the Korean War and maintained lifelong ties with his Air Force veteran friends. He worked in the education field teaching in Arlington, Fairfax, and Roanoke Counties, and retired from serving as principal of East Salem Elementary School in 1990. Jim was an active and devoted member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church in Roanoke, where he taught Sunday School. Everyone who knew Jim will remember that his passions in life were God, his family, and his beloved Hokie and Red Sox teams. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Nadine R. Kelley. Also surviving are Jim's former wife, Betty Kelley; daughters, Laurie Graham, Rachel Kelley, and Karen Weddle and husband, Andy; stepdaughters, Melanie Leweke and husband, Scott, and Kathy Glasgow and husband, Kevin; and grandchildren, Kelli, Jenna, Cory, Daniel, Amy, Ben, Greg, Kara, Emily, Sam and Mary. Jim is also survived by brothers, Lester and Richard Kelley; and a sister, Rosalee Thrasher. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Oakey's South Chapel in Roanoke with interment following at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The family requests donations be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church or to the National D-Day Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523.
