He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Byers (Peggy) of Emporia; nine grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. He was a veteran of foreign wars. A memorial service will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, on Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. on April 28, 2010.²

She is survived by her husband, Stan Pelletier; a son, Hunter Byers; a daughter, Virginia “Kay” Byers; two step-daughters, Jennifer Pelletier; Kimberly Gerhart of Norfolk and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Joyce and father, Alfred Lewis; two sisters, Jill and her husband, Luther “L.A.” Carroll; Connie and her husband, Gene “Chip” Armstrong; and a brother, John Lewis of Hampstead, N.C; a niece, Nicole Carroll; nephews, Alex Carroll, Jaime and Brandon Armstrong, all of Richmond. She will greatly missed by all who loved her. Visitation with family and friends will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 12 PM to 2 PM with a service following at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, 200 West Carolina Avenue, Crewe, VA. Burial service will be held 12 P.M., Monday, April 11, 2011 at Maury Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Community Church, P.O. Box 65, Farmville, VA 23901.
