     Jennie Lou Hurst was buried at Saint Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wytheville, Wythe Co., Virginia.³ Her married name was Umberger.¹ She married C. Dayne Umberger.^1,3 Jennie Lou Hurst was born on October 22, 1931.⁴ She died on August 8, 2006 at Virginia at age 74.^4,3 She Jennie Lou Hurst Umberger, 74, of Wytheville, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Crockett and Margaree Lindsey Hurst. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by one sister, Velma Crabtree and four brothers, Claude, William, Crockett, and Swanson Hurst. She is survived by her husband, Dayne Umberger, of Wytheville; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Ken Burleson, of Hickory, N.C., Mary and C.M. Walters, of Wytheville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Carolyn Umberger , of Wytheville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tharon and Howard Guynn, of Woodbine, Md., Helen and Al Andrews, of Wytheville; brothers and sister-in-law, Eugene and Virginia Hurst, of Rural Retreat, Carroll Montgomery, of Wytheville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Hurst, of Wytheville, Nancy Hurst, of Rural Retreat, Anna Lou and Bob Key, of Suffield, Conn., Loretta Umberger, of Bristol, Va; grandchildren and spouse, Brian and Kayla Umberger, of Rural Retreat, Kristen Alford, of Wytheville; great-grandchild, Jacob Alford; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Steve Ridenhour with the interment in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made for the Village of Hope in Haiti with checks made payable to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 405 W.      Eugene Seldon "Tuney" Hurst was buried at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wythe Co., Virginia.⁴ He was born on September 4, 1927 at Virginia.⁵ He married Virginia Louise Baker circa 1955.^4,6 Eugene Seldon "Tuney" Hurst died on August 21, 2012 at Virginia at age 84.^4,5 He Eugene S. (Tuney) Hurst, 84, of Rural Retreat, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He was the son of the late Jesse Crockett & Margaret Lindsey Hurst. He was a retired farmer, past President of Virginia Charolais Association, was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and a member of Holy Advent Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Baker Hurst, daughter, Doris Frye, sisters, Jenny Lou Umberger, Velma Crabtree, brothers, William Hurst, Crockett Hurst, and Swanson Hurst. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda and Ronnie Wolhfert, of Bedford, Dorothy and Freddie Dalton, of Draper, Ila H. Haulsee, of Rural Retreat; son, Robert E. Hurst, of Wytheville; sisters, Thorn Guynn, of Maryland, Helen and Al Andrews, of Wytheville; brother, Carroll Montgomery, of Wytheville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Holy Advent Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Harvey Atkinson, with the interment in the Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 229 of Rural Retreat. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Advent Lutheran Church 3570 W. Lee Highway, Wytheville, VA 24382, or to the Hospice of South West Virginia 600 W. Ridge Rd. Wytheville, VA 24382. Friends may call at the home of his daughter Ila H.      Mary Walters was buried at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery, Fairview Parkway, Wytheville, Wythe Co., Virginia.¹ Her married name was Hurst.¹ She married Claude Allen Hurst, son of Jesse Crockett Hurst Sr. and Margaree Lindsey.¹ Mary Walters was born on May 27, 1920.¹ She died on January 29, 1983 at age 62.¹
