Magdalene spent all but the last few years of her life in Kimball, where she worked for JC Penney in Welch, and Jones and Spry in Kimball, W.Va. She was a member of the Houston United Methodist Church, Kimball, and a member of United Methodist Women. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker, and a resident of McDowell County most of her life. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Ferris; second husband, Roy Hutcherson; and her third husband, Woodrow Mallory; also three brothers, Lucas, Richard, and Daries Lindsey; and two stepsons, Roy Hutcherson, Jr. and Ronald Mallory. She is survived by one daughter, Billie Jean DeLung and husband Maurice of Hurricane, W.Va; one son, Bobby "Radar" Ferris of Belfry, Ky; one sister, Sylvia Williams of Johnson City, Tenn; two brothers, Glenn Lindsey and wife Blanche of Martinsville, Va. and James Lindsey and wife Phyllis of Knoxville, Tenn; six stepchildren, Nancy Lanzier of Alexandria, Va., Jimmy Hutcherson and wife Barbara of Florida, Jimmy Mallory and wife Betty of Bluefield, W.Va., Connie Sigmon and husband Everett "Junior" of Kimball, W.Va., Lynn Hardee and husband Fred of Vivian, W.Va., Sharon Jones and husband Richard of Welch, W.Va; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Widener Funeral Home Chapel, Kimball, with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. where committal services will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. "Shorty" Lindsey, 84, of Neartop Trail, Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Princeton, died peacefully late Tuesday evening, Sept. 25, 2012 at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. Born March 17, 1928, at Vivian, he was the son of the late Harry Lindsey and Minnie Quesenberry Lindsey. Educated in McDowell County, Shorty spent over 30 years of his life with the railroad, having worked for the N & W Railroad and retiring as a Carmen with Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. Shorty was a member of the Landmark Church of God in Princeton. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, raising his garden, and most of all, eating good food. Shorty loved being around people and had a sweet demeanor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis Lindsey, along with several siblings, Lucas, Richard and Darius Lindsey, Magdalene Mallory and Sylvia Williams. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted and caring daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Earl Ellis of Knoxville, Tenn; his grandson, who he was very proud of, Eric and his wife, Holly; and the apple of his eyes, his two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Madison Marlowe of Jacksonville, Fla; brother, Glenn Lindsey and wife, Blanche of Martinsville, Va; and a host of nieces and nephews; also, Uncle Frank and Aunt Joan Copeland of Apopka, Fla. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Scott Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
