He is survived by his wife, Mildred Diane Gilchriest Gray; daughters, Wyhonna Burnett, Ramona Stevens, Rocky King and Terry Gray; half-brothers, William, Jim, Charles, John, Henry, Shirley, and Robert Gray. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Steven Gray, Jr., Tyler Burnett, Chase Burnett, Seth Stevens, Kassi Stevens, Macey King and McKenzie Staub. A memorial service celebrating the life of Pappy Gray will be held February 23, 2013 at Antioch Cemetery in Buna, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on February 22, 2013.3

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Lee Gray, James Clark Gray, Shirley Arnold Gray; half brother, Herbert Alvin Gray and three half sisters, Eva Mae Terry, Lois Elenor Gray and Glida Lilly. Bill attended a one-room school on Acord Mountain and Sophia High School. He worked at Slab Fork Mine from March 8, 1951, to Nov. 7, 1972. Bill accepted Christ as his Savior on Nov. 17, 1996, and was baptized on April 13, 1997. He was a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church where he served as an usher and teacher. He served with the U.S. Army from April 15, 1953, to March 19, 1955, serving 17 months in Korea. Bill loved his family, his church family and working on his farm. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Maurenettia Evelyn Gray; children, Stephen Howard Gray and Linda Gray Lewis and her husband Rodney; grandchildren, Leigh Anne Korn and husband Eric and Lauren Johnson and husband Matthew. His pride and joy were his great-grandchildren, Aubrionna Lunsford, Douglas Johnson, Kinsley and Kelsey Korn; brothers, Charles Gray and wife Margaret, Frank Gray and wife Gatha, John Gray and wife Beverly; sisters, Mary McMillion, Ruth Sterling and husband Dan and his farming friend, Isaac Parsons. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jim Brock and pastor Terry Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaday Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Charles Leonard Gray Charles Leonard Gray, 72, of Crab Orchard, passed away at his home on Friday, August 30th, 2019. He was born to parents Lacy and Goldie Gray on November 22, 1946. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Ann Pizzino-Gray, brothers William Gray, Henry Gray, James Gray, Shirley Gray, and sister Ruth Sterling. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Ann Gillenwater-Gray, granddaughter Ashley and John Rogers, granddaughter Destiny Kidd, and great-granddaughter Nataleigh Brooke Dickens. Also survived by brothers John and Frank Gray, sister Mary McMillion, mother-in-law Louise Gillenwater, sisters-in-law Barb Small and Wayne, Kay Spence, Evelyn Gray, brothers-in-law Billy Gillenwater and Gina and Danny Sterling, along with numerous friends and family members. Charles loved being outdoors, spending time with his family, fishing, and bowling. Charles worked many years at the Austin Black Plant at Slab Fork, he ran his own auto body repair shop for a number of years and retired as a certified crane operator from Powell Construction Company.
