She was a native Texan, born in Big Spring, Texas and has made Zachary her home since 1965 where she lived to the age of eighty nine years serving our Lord. She is survived by her children, Martha Anne "Marty" (Doug) Williams, Abilene, TX; Linda Arlene (Tom) Shanks, Wichita Falls, TX; Roberta Lee "Robbi" Stewart (Tim) Flynn, Irving, TX; Joe David (Beth Pullig) Hitt, Baton Rouge and Steven Miller (Beth Shepherd) Hitt, Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren, C. Todd (Miriam) Williams, Micah Shanks, Shay Shanks (Willis) Hogan, Chantel Stewart (Jerrud) Arnett, Shelly Stewart (Juan) Hernandez, Darren Seth Stewart, Rachael Hitt (Matt) Dearman, Lyle (Anna) Hitt, Mason Hitt, Tucker Hitt, Mallory Hitt, Connor Hitt and Caroline Hitt; 12 great grandchildren and a niece Karen McCuistian, China Springs, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Hitt, grandson, Paul Michael Williams, great granddaughter, Hope Hernandez, sister, Juanita Miller Conway and nephew, Larry Bob Conway. She was a member of First Baptist Church Zachary, a charter member of Zachary Chamber of Commerce and the Baton Rouge chapter of American Business and Professional Women. The interaction with people that came from marketing beauty products, insurance and real estate brought joy and accomplishment as she tirelessly worked to provide for the needs of her five children. An extended retirement allowed her time to become a faithful prayer warrior who loved the Lord as she daily lifted the needs of her family, friends, church, community and country to our great God, always giving thanks for the salvation and blessings of her life. Mom loved gardening, roses, family gatherings and making quilts for each of her grandchildren. The ladies of her Sunday school class had a very special place in her heart as they shared lifelong friendships around the study of the Holy scriptures. on November 5, 2014.4
