She was very active in Beckley Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of Circle No. 1, Women's Bible Class and Ambassador's Class. She was a supporter of WSWP-TV and the Youth Museum. She was a member of Flowering Hills Garden Club, Beckley Women's Club, Christian Woman's Club and West Virginia Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd B. Nickell; two brothers, Bowman Doss and Armon Doss; and a sister, Elinore Doss. Survivors include a son, Stephen B. Nickell and his wife, DeLane, of Beckley; a sister, Alma Carter of Mount Hope; three grandchildren, David A. Smith of Arlington, Va., Rebecca D. Smith of Beckley, and Kevin D. Smith of Boston, Mass; and eight nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Beckley Presbyterian Church, Beckley, with the Rev. Robin Debnam officiating. He was born June 20, 1926 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Paul R. and Pearl Stevens Crawford. Mr. Crawford served with United States Army during World War II. He retired 1992 for the #5 Paper Machine at MeadWestvaco, Corp. He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church where he had served as both a Deacon and an Elder. In addition to his parents, Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Agnor Crawford as well as two brothers, Leo Crawford and Alfred Crawford. Surviving are two sisters, Faye Robinson and her husband, Paul of Elkins, West Virginia and Edith Summer of Verona ; several nieces and nephews and a special caregiver and loving friend, Teresa Wolfe.
