Paul Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Authorities said Pigg shot himself just above the right ear at his home at approximately 8 p.m. He was taken to Princeton Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m. Born in Sandlick, he was a son of Lonnie Pigg Sr. and Carlie Phlegar Pigg of the Airport Road. He was an employe of Ossit Furniture Company in Bluefield, Va., and was a member of the Church of God. Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Ronnie Pigg and Larry Pigg, both of Baltimore, Md; one stepson, Ray L. McGee of Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Underwood of Rock, Mrs. Jean Hawks of Elliston, Va., and Mrs. Ruth Jones of Sandlick. Pallbearers will be R. C. Pigg, Sammy Pigg, Vespe Beckner, Elbert Combs, Paul Tyree and Darrell Perslanni. Honorary pallbearer will be John Surface, George Surface and employes of Surface Banana Company. Nieces and cousins will carry flowers. on July 1, 1975.4

She will be missed immensely by all that loved and respected her. Born on July 16, 1925, in Montcalm, W.Va., he was a son of the late John B. and Cora Perkins Beckner. He had lived on Browning Lambert Mountain for the past 41 years and was a member of the Mount Grove Baptist Community Church. He was a deacon and taught the Teen Sunday School Class there. He had retired from the Crane Creek Tipple and was a UMWA member. He served 2 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was the Past Commander of the VFW Black Rock Post 3112 in Bramwell, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Beckner; two sisters, Irene Duncan and Ora Johnston; and three brothers, Louis, Verlie, and Bill Beckner. Survivors: Wife of 61 wonderful years: Kathleen Pigg Beckner of the home; sons: Barry Beckner and wife Debra of Rock, W.Va., Ronnie Beckner and wife Kathy of Rock, W.Va; daughters: Alma Jones and husband Pete of Virginia Beach, Va., Patricia Beckner and companion Tom Barron of Washington, D.C., Priscilla Smith and husband Chris of Bristol, Va., Paula Christian and husband Mike of Rock, W.Va; brother: David Beckner of Maryland; sisters: Lillian Thompson of North Carolina, Ruby Davidson of Bluefield, W.Va., Shirley Harmon of Bluefield, W.Va. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three step grandsons, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Eddie Mabe, the Rev. Ralph French, and the Rev. Grover Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. The West Virginia Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council will perform Military Graveside Honors.
