He is survived by his mother, Effie Hawks; his wife of 50 years, Norma "Jean" Hawks; one son, Robert "Bobby" Hawks; daughters, Connie Dunbar, Cheryl Cobb and son-in-law, Hugh Cobb. Also surviving are three grandchildren, and two very special little girls. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, August 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. in John M. Oakey & Son Salem Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carl Basham officiating. on August 29, 2001.4

Born on September 17, 1936 in Green Valley, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Carlie Phlegar Pigg. She had been a resident of Montcalm for most of her life and was retired from the Salvation Army. She attended the Montcalm Worship Center since 1972 with her husband who was Pastor, until he became disabled. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Ambrose Lane; a sister, Charlotte Underwood; and a brother, Lonnie Lonzoe Pigg, Jr; and her grandparents, Harvy and Mattie Phlegar and Robert and Laura Pigg. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, the Reverend James Edward Jones of the home; two sons, James (Pedo) Jones and wife Cornelia of Rock, Larry (Joe) Jones and wife Linda of Hildebran, N.C; one daughter, Mardella Thomason and husband Danny of Bluefield; one sister, Jean Hawks of Elliston, Va; eleven grandchildren, Tracy Beggs and Jason of Rock, Heather Brendle and Fred of Connelly Springs, N.C., Crystal Stevenson and Danny of Bluefield, Dennis Thomason, Jr. and Heather of Bluefield, Scotty Jones and companion Nikki Meador of Rock, Danielle Hicks and Ronnie of Boiling Springs, N.C., Daniel Salmons of Hildebran, N.C., Ethan Jones Stirewalt of Bluefield, Kyleigh Jones of Princeton, Nicholas Jones Stirewalt of Bluefield, Joleigh Jones of Princeton; nine great-grandchildren, Austin Pennington, Morgan Thomason, Alyssa Thomason, Gabrielle Beggs, Markus Thomason, Grayson Thomason, Julie Thomason, Addison Thomason, Jospeh Hicks; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Reverend Dewayne Houk officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the family. on March 7, 2010.2
