Her Social Security Number was 229-50-5217.7 Judith Ann "Judy" Mills was born on September 5, 1940 at Roanoke, Virginia.2,3,7,4 As of November 7, 1964,her married name was Reimer.2 She married George Reimer on November 7, 1964 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,2,5,3 Judith Ann "Judy" Mills died on November 13, 2013 at Charlottesville, Virginia, at age 73.3,7,8 She Judy Mills Reimer, 73, peacefully crossed over into eternal life, surrounded by her beloved family, on Wednesday November 13, 2013. She was born Judith Ann Mills on September 5, 1940. Judy grew up in Roanoke, was a 1958 graduate of William Fleming High School, and earned a Bachelor's degree at Emory and Henry College in 1962. Upon graduating from college, she entered Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS). While in orientation for BVS she crossed paths with George Reimer at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. She then went onto volunteer service in Germany from 1962 to 1964. While in Germany, she crossed paths with George again, and returned stateside to be married on November 7, 1964. Once married, the couple resided in Crystal City, Manitoba, Canada. In Crystal City, Judy began teaching school in a rural one room school, while George farmed. After two years, the couple returned to Roanoke in 1966 where she continued her teaching career until their older son was born. Judy and George purchased Harris Office Furniture Co., Inc. in 1976. While co-owning Harris Office, she began to become very active in local and national church committee's with the Church of the Brethren. Judy was on the Church of the Brethren General Board from 1985 to 1990, serving as chair of the board her last two years. (The General Board is now the Mission and Ministry Board. Judy was licensed to the ministry by the Williamson Road Church and Virlina District in 1991. Judy felt called to leave the day to day operations of Harris in 1992, when at the age of 51; she entered Bethany Theological Seminary, earning her Masters of Divinity in 1994. She was ordained on May 29, 1994. From 1993 to 1995 Judy served as the Moderator Elect and Moderator of the Church of the Brethren. Leading the 209th Church on the Brethren Annual Conference in Charlotte, N.C. in 1995, where the theme was "Claim Christ's Call." Judy was the founding pastor of Smith Mountain Lake Community Church of the Brethren in 1996 to 1997. She was then called by God to be the CEO/General Secretary of the Church of the Brethren General Board from 1998 to 2003. Judy retired in 2003, but continued to preach in pulpit supply, lead workshops, and served as Interim Pastor for a year at her home church, Williamson Road Church of the Brethren. Judy's life was miraculous and exemplary. She suffered heart damage and lived with cardio myopathy since the age of 27. This would have diminished a lessor person. Judy gave her life to Jesus after having a meaningful experience as a young child at Camp Bethel in Fincastle. She sought to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, looking through the denominational window of the Church of the Brethren. She was nurtured in God's message by the Hollins Road and Williamson Road Church of the Brethren church families, Camp Bethel, the Virlina District, and various denominational and ecumenical ministries. Judy loved life and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and servant of the Lord. She delighted in seeing Cardinals, Roseate Spoonbills, and Great Blue Herons. Her grandsons, Bailey and Bryson, were the "apple of her eye"! She enjoyed reading and playing solitaire. Judy thanked God for the beautiful gift of life! She hoped that her legacy would be the message, "to live each day to its fullest"!! Judy will be sadly missed by her beloved spouse of 49 years, George; son, Troy and his spouse Kristen; two grandsons, Bailey and Bryson; sister, Jane Mills; many members of the Reimer family in Manitoba, Canada; along with many beloved cousins and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Poff Mills and James Victor (Mike) Mills; and son, James Todd Reimer. Entombment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. on November 15, 2013.3

Herman Lee Reavis1,2,3,4
M, b. October 14, 1932, d. June 25, 2025
Herman Lee Reavis Herman “Herm” Lee Reavis, Roanoke Radio Pioneer, retired from this earthly life on Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025. He closed his final broadcast the same way he closed the Radio Bowling reports: “Mama, put the peanut butter away; the old Man from the Mountain is going Home.” He was born on Friday, October 14, 1932, the son of Paul and Minnie Reavis of Galax, Va. During his lifetime of broadcasting, he achieved awards too numerous to mention. Those who knew him already know the talents of the young man who started his radio career at the age of 14. He loved his work; it became his life. If there had not been many changes in the radio industry, he surely would have tried to work another 64 years. He was proud to be the founder of the “Squirm with Herm" club and always introducing himself as “Your favorite Radio Man”. Herm was predeceased by his sisters, Baby Joyce Reavis, Peggy Carr, and Lucy Arnold; and brother, Paul Reavis. Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Tina Testerman Davis; and son-in-law, Ron Testerman. He is survived by his soul mate, his wife of 42 years, Sue Heslep Reavis; and their children who stood with them at their wedding, each of them taking vows to support their parents’ marriage and to become one family with no “step” brothers or sisters. Most have respected those vows. Their children and their families in chronological order are as follows: Pamela LaPradd; her daughter, Heather Rivers (Jimmy); and their daughters, Eve (Daniel) Peay and Eleana Rivers. Tina's twin daughters, April and Anna Davis. Greg Reavis (Stephanie); and their two sons, Mitch (Mariah) and Stuart Reavis. Penny McNabb; her three children, Suzanna (Dr. Robert) Weldon, baby Vena Frances, Patrick McNabb, and Jaime McNabb.
