Vintin, who died Tuesday in a local hospital, will be held in the McHenry Funeral Home Saturday at 10 a.m., with Rev. A. Robert Chidwick of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church officiating. The interment service will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The daughter of William and Ellen Brown Darnall, she was born on May 1, 1886 in Dwight, Neb. She taught elementary school near Dwight until her marriage to Lester C. Robare on May 1907 in David City. Neb. The family moved to Salem in 1929 and for the next 13 years lived in Marion and Benton counties until Mr. Robare's death in 1942. Four years later she married David Eugene Vintin in Corvallis where they have since lived at 1600 Van Buren. She was a member of the National Assn. of Retired Civil Employes; Woman's Auxiliary of the WWI Veterans; the Golden Age Club of Corvallis. Beside her husband, she is survived by four sons, Norman Robare of Sunnyvale, Cal; Wayne Robare and Jim Robare of Albany and Dale Robare of Eugene; one daughter, Mrs. Irma Reed of Lakevlew; five brothers, Charlie Darnell of Lincoln, Neb; Earl of St. Helens, Jay of Pedmont, S.D., Ray of Clarks, Neb. and Jud of David City, Neb; five sisters, Mrs. Josephine Kroft of David City, Neb; Mrs Anna Hamann of Scappoose, Mrs. Nellie Nelson of Grand Rapids, S.D., Mrs. Kitty Sich of Owanka, S.D., Mrs. Hazel Hughe of Lincoln, Neb; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. on October 14, 1965.5

He married Ruth M. Wilson on Dec. 22, 1937, in Salem. He worked as a heavy machinery mechanic for Gilchrist Lumber until 1945, when he moved to Albany. After moving to Albany he worked for Fisher Implement and the Linn County shop. He retired in 1976. He was a member of the Albany Amblers Trailer Club, First United Methodist Church and the Circle-8-ers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting and home improvement projects. He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Robare; a daughter, Jeanine M. DeMars; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Jimmy and Dale Robare; a sister, Irma Pauline Robare Hulsey; a son, David W. Robare; and a son-in-law, Donald J. DeMars. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 1115 28th Ave. S.W. in Albany. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Benton County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

She owned and operated Billie's Beauty Salon in Philomath for a few years before following her heart to become a homemaker extraordinaire and mother of two sons, Kevin and Paul. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Guild, belonged to Willing Workers, and was involved in several other community organizations. She was also part of the Pearl Harbor Survivors group as a spouse. Her interests included gardening, ceramics, canning, sewing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Robare is survived by her son, Kevin and wife Karon; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, and Krista and husband Troy; one cherished great-granddaughter, Emily Grace; as well as other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; son Paul; and brother Floyd. on August 5, 2014.2

C., Dean of Lincoln, Gordon of Geneva, Mrs. Gene (Donna) Leninger of Aurora; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. They resided on a farm east of Blue Hill, Neb. They moved to the Geneva community in 1937, and were engaged in farming until 1962 when they moved into their new home at 426 South 12th in Geneva, where they lived as long as their health permitted. In June, 1975, they moved to Heritage where she lived until her death. Alma was a long-time member of Chelsea Extension club, an active member of the United Brethren church and at present was a member of United Congregational church of Geneva. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 16, 1976, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Geneva, with Rev. Neil L. Kettering officiating. Mrs. Alvin Rizer sang “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were Derrel Hutchens, Vorus Myers, Leo Kovanda, Robert Nunns, Sr., Alfred Lentfer and Charles Stofer. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. on February 19, 1976.4

Gordon Robare was born on July 31, 1927, on a farm southeast of Strang, NE in Fillmore County. He was the son of David Hamilton Robare Jr. and Alma Marie(Zimmerman) Robare and fifth born of six siblings. At the age of two, he was baptized a Christian in the United Brethern Church at Strang, NE. Gordon attended school in Fillmore County. At the age of four he started at District 84, and graduated from the eighth grade at District 45. He attended Geneva High School and was a 1944 graduate in Geneva, NE, at the age of 16. Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy on July 16th, 1945 at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago, IL. He faithfully served his country spending most of his time on the USS Bunker Hill Naval ship as a Seaman and Boiler Tech. He served in the Asiatic Pacific American Theatre, received a Good Conduct WWII Victory Medal, and was awarded a Honorable Discharge on July 28th, 1948 in Seattle WA. Gordon joined the Catholic Church and married Julia Rose Kamler at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shickley, NE. on August 10, 1950 until her passing in 1990. Together, they raised their family. Gordon worked for the Kaneb Pipeline for 36 years enjoying each challenge and opportunity. He started his gainful employment as a Terminal Operator in 1953, spent four months in England on Pipeline Operations in 1973, was Chief Engineer for the Eastern Half of the construction of the North Platte Pipeline in 1981, and served as Area Superintendent in Wolsey, Aberdeen and Huron, SD, Geneva, NE and El Dorado, KS from 1975-1989. During that time he also mastered being an electrician, sold insurance, obtained a certificate in Industrial Supervision from Central Nebraska Technical Community College in 1975, was a volunteer fireman, served his church, and was elected to the Geneva City Council serving for several years. His belief in a strong commitment, solid work ethic, and frugal lifestyle lead to a rewarding career and comfortable retirement in 1989. On December 7, 1991 he was united in marriage with Joan Elaine Biggerstaff at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita KS. They were able to enjoy traveling, playing cards, volunteering and time spent with family and friends, and have lived in the Wellington KS area since their union. Gordon was member of the American Legion, the V.F.W and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving to honor his memory is his wife Joan Robare of Wellington, Kansas, daughters, Marla Messman and husband Jerry of Ft. Collins, CO and Shirley Hafer and husband Bruce Geneva, NE, son, Richard Robare and wife Corinne of Draper, UT, sisters, Doris Weber and husband Don of West Palm Beach, FL, and Lois Owings of West Columbus, S.C. and Dona Leininger and husband Gene of Claremore, OK, 4 stepchildren, Danny Biggerstaff and wife Mary of Medford, OK, Kent Biggerstaff and wife Teresa of Arkansas City, KS, Bernadette Osburn and husband Terry of Inver Grove Heights, MN and John Biggerstaff and wife Candy of Collinsville, OK, 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Julia Rose, 2 brothers Kenneth and Dean Robare and 2 great grandsons. on January 23, 2013.2

He participated in the Invasions of both Normandy and Sicily and the African Campaign. He was commended for courage displayed in the shooting down of two enemy bombers and helping shoot down a third. He was commander of the Herscher American Legion for one year. He was instrumental in starting the American Legion baseball program. He was involved in Little League and PONY League baseball mostly as an umpire and in their fundraising. He enjoyed antique and modern cars, antique clocks and traveling to Arizona. Mr. Beverlin loved his family. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Hart, whom he married Oct. 20, 1946, in Peru, Iowa; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Joan Beverlin of Kennewick, Wash; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and J.R. Matern of Herscher and Patrice and Rick Parker of Dwight; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One brother, Max Beverlin, is deceased. He was married to Martha O. Hemkin on Feb. 17, 1930 and they farmed in the Litchfield area until moving to Kearney in 1965. After moving to Kearney he was employed as a security guard at the Baldwin Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Jack Ellsworth of Denver, Colo. and Larry Ellsworth of Kearney; a daughter, Lavonne Beaumont of Omaha; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Swanson of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in September of 1974, five brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ron Roemmich officiating. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.
