Williams, on June 29, 1898 at Wallowa Co., Oregon.2,5 As of October 2, 1919,her married name was Wood.2 Violet Maude Hearing married Oliver Wood on October 2, 1919; Her husband's obituary states that they were married on October 3rd.2,6 Violet Maude Hearing died on June 15, 1951 at Wallowa Co., Oregon, at age 71.7,6 She Mrs. Oliver Wood passed away at the Wallowa Memorial hospital Friday morning, June 13, 1951. Viola [sic - Violet] Maude Henry [sic - Hearing] was born in Linn County, Oregon April 1, 1880, the daughter of George and Mary (Conner) Hearing. At the age of four, she and the members of her family, came to Wallowa county to a home in the Leap district. On June 28, 1898 she was married to Boone F. Childers and to this union five children were born. Mr. Childers passed away June 24, 1912, and on October 2, 1919 she was united in marriage to Oliver Wood, and two daughters were born to them. From the time of her first marriage she resided in Lostine until 1948 when she and her husband moved to Enterprise. She is survived by her husband, Oliver Wood; one son, Howard Childers, Enterprise; five daughters, Mrs. Georgia McGinnis, Enterprise, Mrs. Lulu Dimmick and Mrs. Ruth Nuxall, Walla Walla, Mrs. Pauline Cruzan of Portland, and Miss Norma Wood of Oakland, California. One son, Paul Childers, preceded her in death. She is also survived by one brother, Merle Hearing, Joseph; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Leeper of Medford, and Mrs. Eliza Crossler of Walla Walla; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Four of her grandsons, Gordon and Pat McGinnis and Robert and John Dimmick, are members of the armed forces overseas. Funeral services were Sunday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. from the Booth-Bollman Chapel with Rev. H. C. Stover officiating. Mrs. Patricia Dishman accompanied by her aunt, Mrs. Garnet Best on the organ sang, "Whispering Hope" and "Beyond The Sunset." Pallbearers were A. B. Miller, Kearns Heasty, Gilbert Wiseman, Adolph Nuxall, Charles Scott and C. P. Crawford, with interment in the Enterprise cemetery. Mrs. Wood was a quiet woman whose main interest in life was the welfare of her family and her home. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and a good neighbor. She will long be remembered by all who knew her. Miss Norma Wood of Oakland, California, Mrs. Pauline Cruzan of Portland, and Mrs. Lulu Dimmick and Mrs. Ruth Nuxall of Walla Walla were here for the funeral. on June 21, 1951.2

Leeper, 347 Pearl street, who passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, will be held in the Conger-Morris Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Delbert Daniels officiating. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park. He was born in Missouri, March 15, 1873, and had lived in this community for 19 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. May Belle Leeper, Medford, and a sister, Mrs. Matilda Petettelle, Albany. on May 22, 1946.3

     Oliver Wood was buried at Enterprise Cemetery, Lostine, Wallowa Co., Oregon.2,4 He was born on February 23, 1881 at Sweet Home, Linn Co., Oregon.2,3 He married Violet Maude Hearing, daughter of George Washington Hearing and Mary Elizabeth Conner, on October 2, 1919; Her husband's obituary states that they were married on October 3rd.1,2 Oliver Wood died on September 21, 1963 at Wallowa Co., Oregon, at age 82.5,2 He Funeral services for Oliver Wood are being conducted by the Bollman Funeral Home today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church with the Rev. Lester Wells officiating. Mrs. Harry Stein will be organist and Ella McArtor and Sue Smyth will sing "Whispering Hope" and "Beyond The Sunset."
Casket bearers will be E. J. Hook, Howard Williamson, Orval McArtor, Delbert Wart, S. G. Sheets and John Lewis. Interment will be in the Enterprise cemetery.
Mr. Wood had been in failing health for the past five years and had been a patient in Wallowa Memorial Hospital for six months. He passed away there on Saturday, September 21, 1963.
He was born February 23, 1881 at Sweet Home, son of John D. and Martha Wood. He had lived in Wallowa county for 63 years and was a skilled carpenter. On October 3, 1919 he was married at Enterprise to Violet Maude (Hearing) Childers, who passed away on June 15, 1951. He was a member of the Christian church and an honorary elder.
He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Ruth Nuxall of Pendleton; Mrs. Everett (Norma) Goodale of Sacramento, Calif; Mrs. Uley (Georgia) McGinnis of Enterprise; and Mrs. Lulu Dimmick of Joseph; one son, Howard Childers of Joseph; three sisters, Mrs. Abbie Mayfield and Mrs. Lillie Nye, both of Portland; and Mrs. Sam (Verda) Knight of Joseph; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. on September 26, 1963.2
